The Most Power-Drunk
Good choice. There isn't really a benefit to you not to provide notice...outside of possibly making you feel a little better, what is there to gain? Chances are (especially in a small town), you will want/need, at a minimum, the reference some day down the road. You may get screwed over by your new company and all of the sudden need this job back. You never know what's going to happen, and as others have stated, you should NEVER burn a bridge unless it is absolutely necessary.
