It's more than Guinness commercials (Irish BTW). One of my fiances good friends is British. I've never met her so I asked my fiance if she says "brilliant" a lot. The response, "Actually yes she does." From what I can tell instead of all of the words that we say like cool, great, awesome, etc. Brits say brilliant. Not to gay up myself, but I noticed that in the Harry Potter movies and Bend it like Beckham
