If you guys want to list TV series along with a 1-10 rating based on your own opinion I'll calculate a BP average and update this first post every once in a while. Especially with netflix/etc. it'd be nice to have ideas for what to try next. I'm thinking either sitcom type shows that are currently on TV or maybe TV series from the last decade or two that are more of a running plot. But include whatever you want to.

Only shows I watch with any regularity...meaning, I make the effort to watch them when I DVR them...

House (8) formulaic, but still one of the most entertaining shows out there, House himself is one of the best characters ever
The Office (7.5) Still not what it was it's first 2-3 seasons, but bouncing back from two pretty subpar seasons
Modern Family (8) My favorite new show, maybe my favorite show period. Clever, well written with good characters
Community (6) Hit or miss, has some funny moments, but also quite bland at times. Halloween episode was awesome. Needs more Chevy Chase
The Soup (8) Hilarious week in and week out
Diners, Drive Ins and Dives (7) I don't even cook, but this show entertains the hell out of me
30 Rock (7.5) Consistently quite good.

Past shows I loved...Arrested Development (10), The Sopranos (9), ER (7)

As jwins said, I'd like to keep this more current, although it doesn't have to be something that is on TV right now. But if you think it's worth mentioning I'll add it. Netflix is great for going through a TV series whether it's current or not, especially one based heavily on a running plot.

Good question... Best TV Series is not the best title. I'd say any from the past decade, maybe two. That's kind of when the creativity and amount of TV series really exploded.

For me I'm interested in finding TV series to watch that are highly recommended. I'm not a huge fan of sitcoms but if it's on currently I may watch it. If it were a list just for me I'd say to limit it to sitcoms that are currently on or TV series that follow a plot from the last decade or so. But this list is for the people, not just me. So you could include whatever you want.

100% agree on Rome. Easily my favorite. I'll check Deadwood out.

The Wire, Entourage and the Tudors are pretty good premium channel shows too.
