What happened to my ¤cash?
There's a guy over on the UW board, ryebadger, who really does not like Michigan at all. A sampling from this week:
Obviously, you are unaware that their running back was a 5 star, the only stat that matters on Mgoblog. if you spent more time there, you'd know to multiply the yards by the number of stars then divide the number of carries by the number of stars to get his MARHA (Mgoblog adjusted recruiting hype average). In reality he ran for like 500 yards on on under 6 carries. MARHA is the magical elixir that lets them forget you could peruse their roster of 4-5 star running back recruits over the last decade or more and not find one who would have started for Wisconsin.
Edit: Lest you doubt MARHA's efficacy, I refer you to an Mgoblog analysis of UW's offensive line a few years ago. Applying MARHA, they concluded UW's offensive line was entering a period of steep decline, driven primarily by the fact that a 2-star transfer was starting. A 2-star! Obviously, MARHA nailed it, based on the dearth of UW O-linemen on NFL rosters, Jonathan Taylor's paltry rushing stats and that the 2-star in question, Ryan Ramczyk, couldn't cut it in big time football.
----------------------------
They are well past that in the weekly cycle. Army and MTSU were quirky games that should have been blowouts if not for this handful of plays. So being unimpressive against huge underdogs isn't telling. Wisconsin has played the worst 2 teams in all of college football. So blowing out two underdogs isn't telling. They have way, way more talent than UW, way better coaching than UW, Don Brown knows how to shut down Taylor and Wisconsin's offense and speed in space with their elite athletes is ready to round into form. They would have won on their last trip to Camp Randall if their QB didn't get hurt, plus they are a way better team than they were then. Last year in Ann Arbor is more indicative of what we'll see this Saturday, because Wisconsin is probably about the same.
It's like the ultimate safe space for grand scale delusion. One can maintain the fantasy they are as talented as Alabama without getting laughed at like they would anywhere else in the world. At the same time, they never have to confront pesky truths, like owning one shared national title since the 1940s, not winning a Big Ten championship since 2004, and having a worse overall record than Wisconsin during the last 20 years. Or 10 years. Or 5 years.
Invite him over. We’ll cover the $77.95 for both you and him.
