He "did well" with Peters? Peters is in year three, buried on their depth chart after playing terribly last year. McCaffrey has played about a 2Q of garbage-time game action and broke his collar bone. By all accounts, he needs some development, and how can you trust the guy that hasn't developed anyone in 4 years to do that?

Ah, yes...the familiar scUM-fan refrain -- "If he didn't want to come here, he must've been bought!" Yeah, couldn't be that he watched your dinosaur offense the past few years and said, "I don't think I wanna be a part of that."

Still buying that hype. I think thaKid may have gone blue.

Took about 25 posts for the "afraid of competition excuse." I am disappointed.

"Michigan's offense works best with a dual threat/mobile guy"? Like who? Patterson and his 220 rushing yards? Rudock and his 150? Speight and his running like a baby giraffe? Kudos to the avatar/post content match, though.

I get the feeling that a lot of people are coming around to the fact that the "qb whisperer" stuff was a plate of hot garbage. The guy has developed nobody in his four years up there. Mississippi Jesus came in with the reputation of being wildly talented, if a little careless at times, and he turned him into a slightly faster Jake Rudock. His rep seems to be based exclusively on landing a generational talent at QB that needed very little developing nearly a decade ago.

Hairballs offense at scUM has turned every QB into captain check down. He has not had a single QB that I was actually worried about torching us down field.

Part of that is probably due to the Oline not being able to protect (get the ball out fast or die) and the WRs being mostly junk (relying heavily on TEs) but that's not a philosophy that's gonna get you a high draft status, i'm sure top prospects are starting to recognize that indeed.

I actually think DPJ and Nico Collins are fairly talented receivers. They just don't have the qb or scheme to effectively utilize their talents.

Hairballs "pro style" offense is even a dinosaur to the NFL now pretty much, the line up in the I (or any set) and run smash mouth football right at the opponent is a thing of the past. The Chiefs, Saints and Rams are all destroying the league right now running fast paced spread offenses. That's the now and the future.

Define "spread"...

Because the Rams are leading the league in Play action passing from under center and the Saints aren't all that far behind...
Meanwhile ' Nawlins does a brilliant job mixing in both gap and zone runs giving Ingram and Kamara power and stretch looks.

Sure they might throw some flair at you on occasion mixing in some screens, some option looks with Hill, etc etc but that isn't the bulk of their offense. Both teams have been packing it in between
the numbers on ball action shots to attack vertical crosses as well. The Rams and Mcvey being the bigger of the two teams to do so.

I'm curious as to what "spread" those two teams are running? You make them sound WVU with Pat-White ish.

Care to elaborate?

I definitely dont mean that, maybe "spread" isnt the best term, but they are definitely opening it up more than the NFL of yester-year. Harbaugh's offense at scUM definitely does not mirror the better attacks in the NFL.

There's a difference between "works best" and "works well". They need a QB who can run, because he's gonna have to.
