ttun Shenanigans and Arguments (2017 official thread)

The Holiday Bowl and Outback Bowl are basically equal. Only difference being Michigan State is ranked and so is Wazzu........scUM is unranked and playing another unranked scrub.

"January Bowl Game" big deal. So scUMs bowl is better than ours because ours is in December and theirs is in January is basically the logic there.

I have seen posters in the DFBIA make just that argument.

They are playing the poor mans USC......the USC that still brags about beating 7/8 win Ohio State teams in bowl games in the early 2000s. Sadly for scUM they are reaching that level because they will clearly boast if they do beat South Carolina (a middling mediocre 8 win team)

And boast they should. Beating a team with a winning record will be like winning the Super Bowl for them.

Wtf, Noon EST on NY Day is a "high profile time slot"?

I'm sure every recruits dream is to play in the Outback Bowl against South Carolina. Big time baby!
Worked SO well for us twice. We played South Carolina NYD twice in one of our worst mini eras and thought it was so bad we fired the coach. They talk it up like this is not only an accomplishment, but a catalyst for greatness and reflective of the awesomeness of Harbro. Think about that.

So, they are going to try to win a game against a team who is above .500 this year? Well, we know how that’s gone for them...

Take USCe and any points that come as a result of the dumb money putting it on the ‘brand’ name.

The Washington Post ranks the 39 bowl games. The Outback comes in 24th (behind the Bahamas Bowl with OU and UAB). Their take

"Michigan ranks 101st nationally in total offense, South Carolina 108th. In other words, this isn’t the game to perk you up after a long night on New Year’s Eve."

BTW- The Cotton Bowl is ranked 3rd

Pfft. Clearly a fixed piece from the WaPo. Bought and paid for by Delany.

I mean, we are talking about the South Carolina that should have lost to Louisiana tech, barely beat a miserable Tennessee team, and was lucky to get by the dumpster fire that was UF right?

Bottom line is that scar's entire season, the 8-4 that it is, was made by beating scrubs like wofford, and programs circling the drain that ended up firing their coach.

If TTUN doesn't bludgeon this team to death, they should be forced to move to the big 10 west division to keep the East semi respectable.

 These goobers act like if Patterson goes to scUM it's even possible he's going to ride the bench in favor of the "whisperers" saviors. You aren't bringing in a player who can maybe play right away if the NCAA grants it to have him ride the pine, and he sure as hell aint goin there without promise that he's going to play right away.

Also they still have some fantasy that Peters is impressive. He averaged like 100 YPG and pretty much completed nothing but check downs to RBs and TEs

While it's true that Harbaugh will adjust the offense to his players skillsets (see: early season 2015, and all of 2017), he is recruiting for his offense. He is evolving it into an NFL passing spread - hence Pep Hamilton and the bounty of wide outs and Gronk-like TEs that run like the wind. He will adjust some things to suit the QB, but mostly he wants a QB that can run an NFL offense. He's got two right now, and wants a third as much for depth as for a possible upgrade.

He didn't have the parts on the field in 2015, was subpar in a few of areas in 2016 (QB, WR, RB - as good as they were), and had to start over in 2017. In 2018 he'll finally have all the pieces, but they'll need some seasoning. He's already proven an ability to out-scheme Meyer's staff all over the field, and now he'll finally have the athletes to match at each position.

Patterson, if he comes and is eligible, may not start - Peters and McCaffrey will be valid competitors. But he will add a jolt of 'oh, shit - competition' that may not have been there otherwise...

Show me a time when Harbaugh didn't adjust things for the QB he needed to play...

... Waiting ...

If either Peters or McCaffrey possess more playbook knowledge, and the ability to run it effectively - without turnovers - they will start. We've heard for three years now that Harbaugh will choose the QB that best avoids montrous mistakes. And we now have first hand knowledge that you need to know the playbook (ie: Peters couldn't overtake JOK for #2).

Personally, I hope all three prove thier ability to move the offense and avoid mistakes. Make Harbaugh choose between all three of them, and make it a difficult choice. Yet somehow, I think Harbaugh would absolutely love that challenge...

I think this works out well. As the offensive line is breaking in two new tackles, they may need a mobile guy to escape and make plays. I'm sure Peters can hang just fine with Patterson in the throwing dept., may even be better but he is a pocket guy and will stand in there in a hellstorm and make throws. This tends to allow him to absorb some pretty big shots.

It's no guarantee that Patterson wins the #1 spot, or is it guaranteed that the O line can keep the starter healthy the entire season. UM needs 2 quality QB's.

fucking where?

You can stop waiting. Unless throwing 32 times with John O'Korn was him adjusting to the QB

Wasn't it the case that Harbaugh's failing to live up to promises he made to Speight what ultimately blew up in Harbaugh's face and caused Speight to announce his decision to transfer away from Michigan?
