ttun basketball (Juwan out, Dusty May in)

It is remarkable how lousy MSU depth has been over the last few years, never worse than this.

Wood and thornton should combine for maybe three minutes.

Sparty throws the ball around horribly while michigan executes down the stretch.

The roles certainly have reversed in this rivalry...sparty winning in football, scUM in basketball. Those last three possessions were bumbled horribly by sparty. scUM seems to be in these guys heads...nobody wanted to take a shot and Appling looked downright terrified.

damn dirty shame both teams couldn't lose or the roof of the arena cave in but oh well.

scUM did their usual sub 30% from 3/about half teams shots are 3's/60% Ft thing but Sparty still found a way to spit the bit.

We'll see how good this supposed #19 team really is in the next few weeks:

@ Arkansas (13-5, but unranked and just got their doors blown off by UK--a game a top 20 team should win)

@ Purdue (14-5, but zero quality wins and bad losses against Butler and PSU--again, a game a top 20 team should win)

@ OSU (loss)

vs Indiana (IU is reeling--a top 20 team would win this game at home)

@ MSU (loss)

@ Neb (win)

vs. Illinois (should be a win for a top 20 team)

vs. OSU (loss)

@ Northwestern (should be a win for a top 20 team)

UM should be able to go 6-3 over this stretch, but I'm thinking something more like 3-6. This team isn't very good.

They don't close well as a team. That is their downfall. Forgetting about Jordan Morgan for long stretches continues to hurt them. When Sparty came storming back, I saw Morgan wide open 3 or 4 times on screen and rolls and they either missed him or chucked up a three.

as for the above prediction. 6 of those 9 games are on the road. The road has been very unkind to all B1G teams this year. .500 would be my guess. Beat the bucks in just one game and I'll be happy. I can't even remember the last time we beat you guys in basketball.

Thar is how your coach rolls, fella. Can't fault the players for trying to execute a game plan that consists of jacking a ton of threes and hoping for the best.
