thankfully the storm wobbled a bit east of where the models had it, so it only just barely brushed the coast.

a wobble back to the west could bring it onshore however, so northeastern Florida and Georgia aren't out the woods quite yet.

Yep. Saw a picture of the track and Daytona completely underwater and the news channel I'm watching had some impressive footage of the surge coming up over the interior beaches, which means any barrier islands are completely underwater. Living inland in the swamps has its advantages when it comes to tropical weather!

Storm surge in Daytona has pushed water into the lower levels of the beachside hotels. Wind has taken down several of my friends' fences, awnings and screened in patios. My mother's place and my brothers house are both in places safe from the storm surge but are seeing flooding from the rain. Chunks of debris are flying off of the rooftops on beachside hotels. Earlier, the wind was dropping these pieces into the parking lots, now they are blowing out to sea. There is going to be a lot of cleanup in the Brevard/Volusia/Flagler County stretch.

when I was kid, the marsh behind my neighborhood could have been considered inland.
now, not so much.
