Heading home at lunch to put up shutters. They are predicting approx. Cat 1-2 conditions to hit my area overnight as Matthew sweeps past. I live about 5 miles inland from the coast.

My parents in Okatie, SC, were evacuated. I guess today at 3pm starts the one way evacuation traffic away from the coast.

Edit: Last night on the way home, and early this morning on the way to work, every single gas station, grocery store, and the Home Depot I pass have been packed.

Expected precipitation totals for the next 7 days. I don't even want to think of the devastation for South Carolina (where they got 30+ inches of rain in some areas) and eastern North Carolina (where there are places still under water from last month's floods) if they were to get 20+ more inches of rain in a week. Holy shit.....

If that thing loops it's going to seriously piss of my wife and kids since we're going to be in Orlando from the 14th through the 17th

If this damn thing loops, it had better give me until next Wednesday night to get the fuck out of here and be safely in Baltimore for a week before round 2. But that's going to be more apparent on Sunday and Monday. Need this thing to take a nice, wide loop if it does.

this ain't gonna be pretty.

FSU and Miami still planning to play in Miami on Saturday.

UF doing everything they can to keep LSU game in Gainesville saturday as well.

how is it that people in florida don't realize that the eye of a Cat 4 passing gun within 60 miles of you typically fucks stuff up pretty good and takes weeks to cleanup/fix?

that's not to mention bringing a visiting traveling into the area during a fucking hurricane.

Agreed, trying to continue holding the game in Gainseville is looking more and more like a dumb idea. The Miami game may be a slightly better situation, though.

EDIT: The forecast for this storm just keeps getting worse. I guess my 5 years of luck will run out and not extend to 6 years.

announced at 5pm that the game will not be moved from Gainesville. as of now, also still scheduled to be played at noon eastern. final decision on game time set for tomorrow around lunch.
unbelievable.

i guess LSU needs to fly in tomorrow so as not to be flying into a cat 4 on Friday?
or just fly somewhere that direction and drive through a cat 4 to get to Gainesville?

only to see the game ultimately be cancelled because that part of the state will be incapable of hosting a game any time soon if this thing so much as kisses the coast right there.

first off, massive amounts of people will evacuated from the area.
infrastructure will surely see at least some damages.
electricity will probably be out.
first responders (police, firemen, medics, etc.) will most likely be a little bit busy on Saturday.

those are just thing that are typical of any tropical weather hitting an area.
that's not even beginning to take into account the worst case scenarios that these bitches bring with them.

i'm actually shocked that the decision making people in the state of Florida don't appear to be taking any of this into account.
they only seem to be looking at the weather forecast at kickoff and none of the other things involved with hurricanes.
i mean how the fuck do Floridians not know a thing or two about a hurricane and it's aftermath?

I think most have been more concerned about the coastal counties. The only evacuation notices are for the barrier islands, and suggestions if you're on the shore on the other side of the barrier islands. As this thing keeps tracking over land they'll probably notice this and tell them to pull their heads out of their asses.
