That's what you get for living in an area with big trees, big spender.

Well, I used to have big trees... then there was Ike, then lost one roots out that winter after a week of rain and some wind ripped one out of the ground, then the ice storm last winter, then the whatever they called that one at the end of June... so, there's 17 days of no power right there, total....

Already chatting up the Starbucks baristas as we speak. Ray Lamontagne, top shelf cannibis, and a tatted up chick with a MA in English who makes $9.25 an hour. I love the weather.

Gee... who could turn that down.

Question:

how prepared are people out there for hurricane conditions?

Just curious, because lack of preparation can make damages even worse than normal.

New York getting hit with a hurricane, would be like South Louisiana getting hit with a blizzard.

A Cat 1 hurricane I can do in my sleep.
But, I'd have no clue where to even start to prepare for a winter storm.

Wind has picked up here and rainfall has intensified. We are by google models projected on the outer edge of the path of this storm. Hoping it doesn't decide to continue going west and now we're in the middle of it. Could get ugly around here if that happens.

So the water level at the Battery just rose 3-4 inches during the last Cantore segment, which was about 5-10 minutes long. They said they calculated it at 1ft. of rise every half hour, and that's with the wind still not having shifted to a SE flow yet! Total rise they said could be more than extra 3ft. on top of that, and ConEd has started shutting the power down for lower Manhattan. Insane.

I bought a few bombers of craft beer, two bottles of grenache, and some port on Sunday, so I'm totally prepared here in coastal Connecticut.

Even Cleveland is getting fucked. All 3 of my apartment windows in my building downtown are leaking and water is coming through the outside wall.

It's been raining for 48 hours. I can't imagine being closer to the eye of the storm.
