Trifecta (don't merge with the vBet)

Gold Pants
Three games left in the regular season and the BUCKS are looking for a trifecta to close things out. A trifecta would mean so much for the program and place the team in an excellent position with the bowl season around the corner.

A trifecta would mean:

A win over a top 5 team (Iowa)
A win over a top 11 team (Penn St)
Another 10 win season for JT
A possible Top Ten ranking to close out the regular season
Another Big Ten title (Five in a row)
Another Victory over scUM (6 in a row and 8 out of 9)
A birth in the Rose Bowl (JT's first appearance) and another BCS bowl game.
If we win the Rose Bowl game a possible top 5 finish.

The great thing about the above is that it is ALL in tOSU hands. At this point if tOSU wins out, even in light of our struggles, this year could go down as a successful year and one to build upon for the 2010 season.

First things first, though. Time to practice hard, game plan smart, stay healthy, and go to Happy Valley and slap the living $*@# out of the Nittany Lions.

Our Honor Defend boys!!

Let's do it!!

One Down Two To Go

First, and always, GO BUCKS!!

Second, and always, scUM sucks!! ~ I do appreicate though RR doing his own version of the trifecta, alibiet the other way around. However, I did read on the Stadium & Main site (doing a little shadenfraud) that one
delusional scUM poster say he really believed that the TSUN would close out the season with victories over Wisky and tOSU. Kinda reminds me of the scUM fan a few weeks ago that told me the only reason we were ranked so high was because we had such a weak schedule. This was the same day TSUN was playing mighty Delaware State. Priceless.....

Well, one down and two to go.....Trifecta here we come....

Actually, just one win against Iowa sends us to the Rose Bowl. A final victory against the skunkbears will just be the icing on the cake. With Stanzi out of the Iowa game, playing at home, and the significant improvement we have seen with our Offense, I see another W for the good guys. Our D should pulverize the rookie QB for Iowa.

The team is starting to peak at just the right time after a year of off and on struggles. The coaching staff has been using much more of the I Formation on Offense, realizing that TP and the entire Offense is much more effective out of this formation. Who would have thought that reverting back to a more traditional Offense would actually be the key to taking a couple steps forward?

The exciting thing to me is that the team has no where reached it's potential on either side of the ball. The D is one of the best three in the nation (along with Florida and Bama) and they are playing on a very high level across the board at every position.

I was very encouraged by what I saw with the Offense against PSU. The Oline had arguably their best game of the year. NO SACKS against one of the statisically best Defenses in the nation who came in with over 30 sacks for the year. The Oline picked up the blitz and did a fantastic job firing out and provided space for our RB to pick up positive yardage. Kudos to everyone along the Oline.

TP did three things that really showed improvement yesterday. First, NO TURNOVERS. This was a difference maker in the game. He did not force any throws into coverage. His mechanics were good and his decision making was great!

Next, he took off and ran the ball at the right time rather than hanging out in the pocket a couple seconds longer hoping for someone to get open. That decisiveness moved the chains as I believe he averaged over 10 yds a carry.

Finally, SHORT DUMP OFF PASSES, was key in getting positive yardage. He dumped the ball off two or three times to Boren, once to Ballard on a middle screen, and once to Saine for a TD. It appears that TP has accepted the fact that getting 3-5 singles in an inning, and having a positive play, works much better than always going for the homerun.

This added feature to his passing game proved to be a real difference maker in the game. Yes, there is still room for significant improvement, but if TP can continue to learn to manage the game like he did yesterday, it will go a long, long way in helping this Offense be much, much, more effective.

NOW ON TO IOWA......

Will this team run out of emotional energy? This worries me.

I don't think so....

IOWA - For the Big Ten championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl. They will have plenty of energy!!

scUM - Need I say more? BEAT DOWN

ROSE BOWL - First ever in Tress' tenure. They will be plenty stoked for this one....

No worries on my part...

Two Down scUM to GO

In the BUCKS bid to end the regular season with a trifecta, we have seen two wins over a BCS #11 ranked team in PSU and a #10 ranked team in Iowa. Right now, our beloved BUCKEYES have wins over 3 ranked opponents, when you throw in Wisconsin. That's more than any ranked team. More than Texas, more than the GAYtors, more than Bama, more than TCU, more than CINCY, more than ANYONE!!

The Iowa game should not have been as close as it was, but that is for the Iowa thread. WE WON!! BIG TEN CHAMPS. ROSE BOWL BABY!!

But, there is still unfinished business....A WHORE needs to be slain, buried and eulogized. This game, like every year, is the most important game of the year, regardless of rankings, win/loss records and bowl bids.

If you go to the game, may I suggest that you wear black. After all, that's what you do at someones funeral.....

GO BUCKS!!!

BEAT the WEASELS!!

The defense had an "off" game last week, I'm guessing they bounce back with a tremendous outing this week! Special teams will be better also. The Weasels will try to emulate much of what Iowa and Purdue didi. But it won't be enough! :oh:

Here's hoping that it is such a blow out, that everyone of our Seniors, who are healthy enough to play, will get to see some playing time this Saturday!

Now that would be a great way to close out the trifecta!!

Our Honor Defend

Trifecta accomplished....

Penn State - Check
Iowa - Check
TSUN - Check

Yesterday's game was won in classic Tresselball fashion. What a great way to close out the regular season with a trifecta and win over the weasel's in the Pig House.

Make no mistake about it.......this team is improving. We have one of the best defenses in the nation and once the offense catches up this team is going to bring a lot of smiles to a lot of faces.

Our offense still needs improvement in the passing game but our running game is peaking and has been stellar for our last five games. The running game is effective going right or left which is a testimony to the balance, diversity and dominance that is beginning to emerge along the OL.

TP is making better decisions in both the running game and passing game. There is still much room for improvement, but if he can avoid costly mistakes in the Rose Bowl and we can control the game on the ground with another 220+ performance, I like our chances no matter who we play.

Here's hoping that the offense continue to improve over the next six weeks.

ON TO THE ROSE BOWL!!!
