Tressel's Players of the Week vs. Illinois

I've noticed something over the last few games. Tressel believes in handing the ball to the ref after you score. But I've noticed a trend the last few weeks that our players aren't doing that. Ginn's 73 yarder vs. Illinois. Pittman's 67 yarder against MinnySoda.

They just drop the ball and tug on their jerseys. What the Fuck?

I like giving the ball to the ref. I remember Gamble after the pick-6 against Penn State flipping it quickly to the ref, like he had to get rid of it so he could celebrate without spiking it and incurring JT's wrath.

That front of the jersey thing has come over from basketball. I think it should go back there.

I agree. It's thuggish and emphasizes the individual.

I'm not a fan of it either. However, OSU could do worse things to bring attention to individuals - like give their best receiver the #1 jersey each year...

scUM gives the #1 jersey to the top WR every year.

Yes, Ginn threw the block at the five to get Holmes in the endzone. It was a great block and a heads up play.

This is the first I've heard of this...must say something about their confidence this year not to have a #1 (Well they might have a #1, but it isn't Breaston, Avant, or Manningham so I have no idea who it would be)

I think Breaston is, but its hard to tell because scUM players seem to stick around forever. For example, I swear that Massaquoi has been in college for the better part of a decade...same with Avant

Breaston redshirted, and has a year left. Avant's a senior who's just been there 4 years.

The tight end that's been there forever is Ecker, who did a 2-year Mormon mission.

He's been there almost as long as Stewart Schwiegart was at Purdue. Could have sworn he played with Gary Danielson and Kyle Orton.

When Ginn scored he dropped the ball but I thought after he did his chest bump he picked the ball back up and flipped it to the ref.
