Transitioning Out of the Spread

i think the 85 bears copied that from your genious of a coach

I don't know maybe he got it from the bears, maybe he didn't. He's been the HC for 20 years now. I'm sure he's done it before. But in this case it wasn't like it was the end of the game, we did this 4 games into the year because of lack of players. Our star RB went down with a spained ankle and we had to move our WR to RB. We only had one true FB and he was going to share the carries with our "back-up" RB, so we needed another guy, plus we run alot of the wish bone, where we need three backs. This guy wasn't like "The Fridge" who got one carry. Our guy starts at FB.

with the talent we have i think we are more suited for a spread offense. but with the mentality of the coaching staff i just don't think that type of offense will ever work. the spread is an aggressive offense that forces a coach to put a trumendous amount of trust into individuals. it goes against most of jt's fundamentals in regards to turnovers and mistakes. both increase, however so does scoring and big plays. this seems to be a tradeoff jt is not willing to accept. there is nothing wrong with a spread offense, but i don't think jt is capable of effectively play calling for one. he simply isn't comfortable with that type of offense and the things it brings to the table. while the spread look won't completely go away. it will drift further and further from the primary formation as time goes on.
