This is about conditioning. Not old timers like you and I but the young and impressionable. In the future no one will have any perception of truth and what is real, they will simply accept that which they are told. For you and I it's just a form of humiliation.

I hate to defend them, because I agree with you. But you bring up "free speech", and Twitter cannot do anything to violate it. Not because it's illegal, but because it's only a rule for the government. The government can't prosecute us for things we say. But Twitter can make us play by their rules, or don't play at all. I don't want to get in trouble for making this political, but I agree that it's kind of sad that there's any kind of backlash against this woman/girl (sorry - I don't know her age). I agree with what she said.

I guess it's also possible that she got her account suspended for another tweet, entirely. But I don't know.

Fun part… Looking at the user name I kinda suspected….

guess what… it was a fake account and was suspended for being a fake account.

I know its AP fact check which everyone assumes will be fake.. but typically twitter names ending in _ or some random character or random names or switching 0 for O are kinda give always.

Pete Moris, Virginia Tech’s associate athletics director for strategic communications, and Sergio Lopez Miro, women’s swimming and diving head coach, also confirmed that the tweet did not come from Gyorgy.

“The screenshot is not her account,” Moris wrote in an email to the AP, referencing an image of the since-removed tweet.

“The account was fake,” Lopez Miro added.

Twitter suspended the account less than a day after it posted the tweet about Thomas.

There is other evidence that the account was not authentic. The same account previously used the handle “@Amanda191923” before changing it to “RekaGyorgy_.” Searches on Twitter for the Amanda username reveal older tweets now linked to the fake Gyorgy account.

And that’s why I’m not on social media. Half the shit everyone gets all upset about isn’t even real. Facebook in particular. The transgender stuff is a different story in the media than it is in reality. I said before in this topic I’ve known a few transgender people. They are not attention whores, just acted like normal people and you wouldn’t know they were transgender otherwise.

Attention whores are the problem. And you find those on social media. And the news. Both toxic. The right and the left bicker back and forth about dumb shit that doesn’t matter, while the lawmakers take our rights and shove them directly up our asses. And it’s both sides of the political spectrum. Both are full of shit, and I have a hard time understanding why anyone supports either side.

I know exponentially more transgender people than you, and I’ve had the exact opposite experience. Wouldn’t you agree that putting a large sign above your desk with your preferred pronouns would qualify you as an attention whore? Wouldn’t you also agree that bullying everyone around you, and forcing them to do the same, would also make you an attention whore?

Here's what I am pretty sure of... the is America, and that doesn't give you the freedom to be good, it gives you the freedom to be what you want.

Now, if someone wants to put up some other than conventional pronouns, and ask the rest of us to engage with them in a casual lie, ok fine, I don't care. It's like cosplaying all day.

The problem is of course when this falsehood we have been asked to engage in is then carried to the point where we are asked for it to be accepted as objective truth.

This person is objectively not a biological female, and competing in athletics against biological females when you are not one, objectively gives you an advantage. Full stop. (Some otherwise rando just beat an Olympic silver medalist in swimming)

And all that is fine, but we're either going to continue to segregate sports based on biological sex, or we're not. Segregating it based on some convoluted definition of woman isn't going to cut it is just having 2 open divisions where you can call yourself a my little pony and jump right in, maybe you win, maybe you lose, but it will make the lower division pointless.

Everyone knows this isn't ok.

I'm a HS teacher, I've had kids change back and forth several times a year. I have a hard time keeping track.

They are rude, not jerks. That’s mean. LOL.

I suggest you consider that if you had to deal with it at my level, you may think differently. The real fun is when they change the pronouns every so often. Joy.

Like you, I’m a go along kind of guy. But, a large majority of people aren’t going to engage in the cosplay, and I’m stuck in the middle, playing referee. Again, joy.
