So, my family has planned to go see the Ohio State - Minnesota game in 2 weeks, but I have realized that by going to see the game, I would have to miss my football game that friday night. The drive is too long to make after the game, and we would not get there at a reasonable time.

So the question is, should I stay home and go to my game, or go with my family and see the Ohio State game (along with visiting relatives). My team is 6-0 as of now, and the game we are playing is against one of the best teams in the region, and should be our biggest game of the regular season. I, however, am not a starter so will not leave a void as far as me missing playing time / having someone replace me, but would still have to miss being there and having to find something to tell my coach.

As a die-hard Buckeye fan, this hurts to have to miss out on one of them, but I was just wondering what yall would do. I have the option to stay home by myself, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do as of now.

Stay for your game. High School football is the best time of your life until you are blessed with children.

You don't leave your team for a varsity game. I coach HS football and have had to miss an OSU game I had tickets for, b/c we played on Saturday.
On the other hand, when I won tickets for OSU-scUM two years ago on the radio, I was suddenly not upset that out team had lost the week before in the playoffs, otherwise I would not have been able to go to the scUM game.

How would you feel if the starting QB or RB on your team decided to go to an OSU game and leave you guys behind?

I don't think thats really a fair comparison, considering losing a starter is a lot worse than losing a backup.

It's not like I'm uncommitted or a bad teammate, I was simply just frustrated at the fact that I was going to have to miss my chance to see an OSU game this year, because there was no way I would be able to make it to the game without missing my game, and just wanted to throw it out there to you guys to see what you thought.

The main thing that frustrates me the most is that I will have to make more sacrafices than most guys on the team, and get the least out of it. I love the sport and my team, but these are the kind of things that go through your mind when you don't necessarily get a lot of playing time.

on the bright side, you will have the house to yourself and you can have your boyfriend over.

and thus you will learn many more lessons about life than those who had it come easy to them. sure you may never be able to apply them to the field, but carry them with you throughout life whether it be in the business world or life in general. you learn much more from hard work and being a "team" player than being the star. sure you may not feel this way, but sometime down the road when you are the star, keep your current role with you and youll be able to thank and help those who aided you along the way.

to make a long story short you get out of things what you put into them, you may not be able to reap the seeds youve sown for a long time, but someday you will.

Doesn't matter, on a team, everyone's an equal.

The fact that you even had the gall to come on here and ask such an asinine question proves to me you're not a team player.
