Buckeye in Blacksburg
So, my family has planned to go see the Ohio State - Minnesota game in 2 weeks, but I have realized that by going to see the game, I would have to miss my football game that friday night. The drive is too long to make after the game, and we would not get there at a reasonable time.

So the question is, should I stay home and go to my game, or go with my family and see the Ohio State game (along with visiting relatives). My team is 6-0 as of now, and the game we are playing is against one of the best teams in the region, and should be our biggest game of the regular season. I, however, am not a starter so will not leave a void as far as me missing playing time / having someone replace me, but would still have to miss being there and having to find something to tell my coach.

As a die-hard Buckeye fan, this hurts to have to miss out on one of them, but I was just wondering what yall would do. I have the option to stay home by myself, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do as of now.

You NEVER abandon your team.

There will be other OSU games in the future but very few games like this that you could ever play in.

Besides, if your team finds out why you missed this game, they will be extremely pissed and rightfully so.

If the game is over at ten you have 17.5 hrs b4 kickoff.

How long from VA 12 hrs??

It's about an 8 hour drive. I can drive, and would make the drive in a second, but I seriously doubt I would be allowed to. Also, I doubt my dad would make the drive with me.

I actually have been pretty set on staying, but have actually been told by a few of my friends that they would go to the OSU game. And the only reason I consider that is because I am lucky to see 1 game a year. I still don't think I can leave the team for a game like this, though, even if i dont play.

Pathetic and sad that you would even have to think about a decision like this. Maybe you can give us the email address of your coach so he can see the committment of one of his players, cut you, and then you can go to the game. :shake:

No doubt Minnesota/OSU will be the game of the century. :roll1:

If that's the case, your friends are idiots. Ditching your team to go to an OSU game is unacceptable and shouldn't even be debated.

Trust me, I don't need to be told about my committment. I've been attending weight lifting sessions daily since 8th grade, and been to every practice and have never been one of the guys that milks an injury so he doesn't have to practice. I understand your point on it, but the main reason I posted this was to just get support more than anything, because it felt kinda like the hard decision to stay home. It's also more than just going to see the game, its being with my family and seeing my relatives and getting to enjoy time back in Columbus.

I would definitely stay with your team,

that being said it is only Tuesday there is a lot of time for you to pull your groin between now and Friday night.

Haha, well that's not really the issue. I know it will be a close game and backups won't get in, and I doubt if I will really play at all. I would stay soley just to support the team, and to be there for a pretty big game.

If I played consistently the thought of leaving for the weekend probably wouldn't even have entered my mind.

How would you feel if the starting QB or RB on your team decided to go to an OSU game and leave you guys behind?
