tOSU vs. University of Findlay (Unofficial Game Preview)

*shrug* Seems to be a pretty strong Harris contingent among fans, and I'm not sure why. Harris is meek around the boards, sketchy on defense, and a complete unitasker on offense.

My attachment to Harris stems from the hype and expectations that accompanied his recruitment. I keep waiting for him to become the player I hoped he would - which is the type of player this team is most lacking.

I definitely see where you're coming from. I wish he had been as advertised too. If Syl wasn't as skilled as he is, I'd be all for letting Harris try to work his game out on the court. Hopefully by next year, when the path is clear, he'll have everything in order.

an interesting comment to add was the dials, sylvester, harris, lewis, mayes lineup. with a group like that it is hard to defend. they went on a nice spurt with dials and sylvester on the wings at the same time. another possible matchup or mismatch for matta to use to dictate the style of the game.

I forgot to mention that I noticed on Sunday that Matta has an army of a "coaching staff" now. Whenever there was a timeout on the floor, there were 10-12 guys dressed in suits that would crowd around the huddle of players on the floor, with another 3-4 in red polo shirts (Chris Jent was one of the polo-wearers-- he's easy to spot, being the tallest on the coaching staff). Seems odd to me to have a "coaching staff" that large, but each one of those guys is gonna have a nice little addition to their resumes, being on Matta's staff/advisory team.

Its early.

Two things are still obvious to me at this point though.

1. We still cant make free throws. Thats just not good. We'll see how the season progresses though.

2. As Dials goes the Bucks go. Its nice to see Bell hitting his shots, but at 6'8" I was hoping he would help inside with Dials. We don't have any help for TD yet again this season so I pray he stays healthy and can avoid the foul trouble.

I know we have a long way to go but the two biggest weaknesses from last season are still evident right now. Matta will get the guys playing harder I have no doubt. The extra spark and scoring ability from the G positions may take some heat off of TD but we need someone to emerge down low before B10 season gets here. JJ's playing is inspiring and I hope he keeps it up and has a great season for us.
