Game Thread tOSU vs. Minnesota, Sat 11/7 @ 8pm ET, ABC

You just solved ur problem with Beck... he doesn't have any clue what to do with CJ. NO one knows what to do with cardale as QB. He's simply not built for the offense that we want to run.

Looking back on last year I have no idea how CJ was so damn clutch. It's even more impressive when you compare just how awful we look this year.

IMO last year CJ had the full support of the team because the team had no choice. This year there's a choice and their choice is clear.

The biggest disservice being done to CJ is that he's being pulled for Braxton to run wildcat plays for a 6 yard loss on 2nd down, so CJ has to come back in and clean up the mess on 3rd and 14. It is a travesty and a mockery and a sham. It's a traveshamockery.

If Braxton is going to take a direct snap he has to either throw or hand off. Direct runs don't work. How many fucking games is it going to take for them to figure it out? What's worse is it kills any rhythm or offensive flow for CJ. Sink or swim with Cardale.

They've been doing this crap three or four series a game for nine games now, and I can count on one hand the number of times the drive didn't end with a punt.

The coaches need to adjust better and we don't have any true deep ball threat at receiver. Our OC adjusted better last year, that is why Cardale looked better. In reality, his stats were not much better than the last couple of games he has started this year. Braxton, Jalin, and Curtis Samuel are all being used in the Devin Smith role, and none of them are really built for it. IMO, if the coaching staff thinks CJ is going to play significant time, they need to implement a package that suits his skill set, and not throw all the wildcat etc., into the plan, which just messes up his rhythm, doesn't fool the other team, and puts him in a hole.

It's not a direct snap he's the quarterback. He has the option to run or throw but I get your point. If they have no plans to throw him then don't put him there...

They've only done this extensively with CJ at QB though and it's because they need the explosiveness from the QB running the ball. We need to supplement CJ'S shortcomings with things like this to get some kind of system we want to run. Issue is its obvious what we are doing with Braxton when he's at qB.

I mean I agree.. given the right system CJ can do well but the problem is he's in a system that just isn't flexible for Pocket QBs.

An observation. People at the game were saying that Cardale was under throwing the deep balls. They weren't under thrown. They were late. Everyone of those throws was where it was supposed to be but he's waiting too long to let it go.

If the receiver has to slow down to adjust to the trajectory of the ball, I would consider that an under thrown ball.

I had fun watching tonight's game. I'm not afraid to say it. I'm sick of the COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS SERIOUS BUSINESS crowd setting the terms for reacting to the Buckeyes when they win.

Earlier today, I saw people react to Dabo Swinney and Clemson fans' unbridled exuberance over beating Florida State. It's as if the act of watching college football has become so divorced from the idea of having fun for some people that they are repulsed when they see other, better-adjusted people taking joy from their favorite team doing something good.

The best thing from tonight's game was the student section chanting, "I BELIEVE IN CARDALE JONES!" It's more fun to look like a fool in support of the Buckeyes than to be "right" as a cynic.
