Bowling Green (3-1) at Ohio State (1-0)

By Sports Network - The Sports Network

GAME NOTES: The Bowling Green Falcons shoot for their third straight win tonight as they challenge the Ohio State Buckeyes at Value City Arena in Columbus. Since losing to Minnesota back on November 15th, the Falcons have posted back-to-back victories over the likes of Concordia-St. Paul and Wayne State by significant margins. While those opponents may not be top caliber, it doesn't hurt to start off the new season with a 3-1 mark. As for the Buckeyes, they finally tipped off their 2008-09 slate on November 20th with a 70-42 triumph against Delaware State at St. John Arena in Columbus. OSU will host Samford five days from now and will play its first road game versus Miami in Florida. The Buckeyes lead the all-time series with BGSU by a count of 3-2, although it was the Falcons who posted a 59-50 win in the most recent meeting back in 1994.

Opportunity knocks for Bowling Green with trip to Ohio State
By RYAN AUTULLO
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

BOWLING GREEN - In Louis Orr's mind, tonight's basketball game between Bowling Green State University and Ohio State is nothing more than an opportunity for the Falcons.

An opportunity to play a big-time opponent in its larger building.

An opportunity for BG to gauge where it is early in the season.

And maybe, if everything goes well, it can be an opportunity to raise awareness that BG just might have something special brewing.

BG boasts a 3-1 record and is clearly more seasoned than the senior-less Buckeyes who have played just once, ripping Delaware State 70-42 in the season opener. But after all, these are Big Ten players, some of which helped OSU win the NIT a year ago.

OSU men's basketball: A mid-major success story
Daniels a key cog on BG team that beat OSU in 1994

By Bob Baptist

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Antonio Daniels remembers the feeling some Bowling Green players will have in Value City Arena tonight.
"There's a lot of good players who come from the mid-majors but don't get the respect they deserve," he said. "When you play against a bigger university, that's your time to shine. The pressure is not on you. You're supposed to lose. They're supposed to win. If they lose, it's a big deal."
It was 14 years ago when Daniels, a sophomore from DeSales who grew up 2 miles from the Ohio State campus, came home to lead Bowling Green to a 59-50 victory over the Buckeyes in St. John Arena.
The OSU program was imploding, on probation for NCAA recruiting violations and having had five members of its heralded 1992 recruiting class transfer or be dismissed in the previous few months. The Buckeyes already had lost at home to Ohio University that season and would finish 6-22, their worst record in history.
