Low blow? I just said 2014 was a miracle and expecting that to happen again is unrealistic when Julian went down. Reality is that if you lose a Heisman contender QB, your chances at a title run are awfully slim. Especially now with the expanded playoffs, and especially with one of the toughest schedules we've ever had. By some miracle of God 2014 happened, but lightning doesn't strike like that twice in a lifetime...especially not with our schedule. Sucks but oh well, always next year.

I do think they need to give TSC a shot now though. Not that I'm giving up on Fahey by any means, he's a frosh on the road in a huge game and maybe TSC doesn't do any better. But TSC will leave if he doesn't get on the field at all and I do think that with the playoffs looking very unlikely (just as much because of our defense as our QB situation), you might as well get him in there now because you don't have to worry about him making mistakes now. He can get his learning under his belt with no pressure on him now.
RE: QBs vs 2014… can’t compare really but Day was taking a helva gamble running with what a true sophomore who’s super raw and a “meh” levelt true freshman QB… I wish he/we’d have brought in a little more experience for the QB room but it might not have been possible… but maybe it would have been

Maybe not a low blow but I think you sort of mentioned in a way to infer that the QB situation tonight really puts in light how good that 2014 team was.

I just couldn’t have been more impressed with Luke. To the point where I’m actually defensive.

He really just got no help. A handful of drops obviously but holy shit the defense and the penalties.

I’m really surprised this defense didn’t show up. I thought they’d turned the corner but I guess not.

As I said before the game. House money now.

Can’t lose and to be honest I don’t know if they can do that. So I’m just going to watch with no expectations.

I did say it makes you appreciate 2014 because having JT and Cardale both play like that was unreal. Hard to think you will ever see something like that again in our lifetime.

But that was my point, Luke's play was more in line with what you would expect from what we have behind Julian...it wasn't all bad and a lot of the blame goes on the defense tonight, but we would have needed Julian level play tonight to overcome all of the other issues. Julian is a top 3 QB in the country and a Heisman contender, I don't expect Luke or TSC to come in and be like JT and Cardale managed to do. I'm not down on Luke or his future at all, that is just a hard position to be put in and I do think TSC needed to come in at some point just to at least change it up when things weren't working and we got down big...I think TSC was more capable of big plays when we needed a lot of points fast, and Day just decided to make no change.

But that is mere speculation, we have no idea what TSC would have done, he might have thrown a pick 6 on his first pass. I just think that was a move Day should have made in this game (even if he plans on starting Fahey next game or having an open competition) if nothing else to change it up on the defense and give them a different look. Sure as hell could not have hurt.

See even now you’re wondering about TSC.

I’m curious why?

Luke I thought played great. Didn’t turn the ball over, was accurate, escaped the pocket, ran the ball, and then got nothing from those around him.

There were at least 4 drops. You’re talking about a 300 yard game easy (one of the drops would’ve been for a touchdown from 30-40 yards out).
