tOSU Staff Recruiting Assigments

I looked up Tressel and he doesn't have any players that he's after.

Get to work, JT! Build the fence around Ohio :nerd: :nerd: :nerd: while scouring the rest of the nation.

Long-time lurker here, very little post-wise. BUT, it'd be cool to see someone do a success analysis per coach. Who's most successful at getting the recruits to commit? That way, when JT reads this forum :wink2: then he knows who to give the biggests recruits to.

Off-the-cuff, shoot-from-the-hip, completely non-scientific analysis - Luke Fickell is the main man: he seems to develop great rapport with the kids, and he is often cited by recruits as one of the reasons that they are interested in Ohio State (he covers Maryland and California, and OSU has generated a lot of interest in those states recently); Darrell Hazell also has a good reputation, and what Joe Daniels accomplished in Pennsylvania two years ago can't be dismissed; Tim Beckman and Paul Haynes also seem to be doing a nice job.

EDIT: Of course, JT is the "closer".

Awesome, thanks guys. I don't have the inside connections or resources that a lot of people here do, so I mostly read the posts for my own education. I joined the Navy right out of high school (Carlisle Indians), and I've been out of state ever since (stuck in San Antonio now - which was good last Dec. 29th - my first Bucks game ever).

First off, I know that the Rivals info is not exactly accurate and that many players are recruited by multiple coaches. Let me also say that I for one love this class so far and think it is going to finish as a top 5 or so class. But just looking at the data Rivals has compiled, there is some interesting stuff...

Bollman:
only target we are still in on is Joe Thomas

Daniels:
still recruiting Elijah Fields, Wes Lyons and Mckenzie Mathews

Heacock:
credited with the verbals from Wells and Moeller
was listed as the coach recruiting Aaron Brown (post-Bollman)

Fickell:
listed as the recruiter for the bulk of our remaining targets
co-credited with the verbals from Schwartz and Coleman
still recruiting Ausberry, Bowman, Cumberland, Gibson, Rose and Wallace among others

Doc:
co-credit for the Wells verbal
still recruiting Larimore, Aram Olson, Eric Schwartz and Juice

Haynes:
co-credit for Coleman and Henton (I would have thought it was Daniels)
still recruiting Carlos Brown, Dekle, Douglas and Ryan Hill among others

Beckman:
co-credit for Schwartz and Henton
still recruiting Browning, Dublin, A.J. Jones, McCarthy, Rose, Small, Bryan Thomas, Wesley and Joe Thomas among others

Hazell:
co-credited with the verbal from Chichester
still recruiting Derrell Johnson, Jamil Paris, Troutman and Whitmore among others

Peterson:
co-credited with the verbal from Chichester and also Ballard

Obviously there are several key recruits who have no coach listed in their profile, but as they continue to integrate this information into their database over the years I think it will become more and more beneficial. It will never be entirely accurate, but it sure is interesting to see some of the trends that develop amongst the coaches and the recruits they are targeting, whether it be by position, location, background, etc.
