Did you take a tour?

Nope...my aunt is an active member of the Varsity O (she is an alum and ran track for the Buckeyes).

The Varsity O sponsored a Fall Preview last night in the Recruiting Room where Coach Tressel addressed Varsity O members and their guests.

Topics of discussion included: societal issues, the outlook on the 2007 season, who has progressed and who hasn't during spring ball, the QB situation, Beanie's ankle, Mo Wells, the NFL draft, etc.

A few notes from last night, if you all don't mind a few excerpts:
  • I am firmly convinced after meeting him that Jim Tressel is a better man than he is a coach, which says a lot. More than 1/2 of his time at the podium consisted of addressing priority issues w/ the 18-25 year-old demographic group. Coach was mortified about a recent USA Today poll which indicated over 80% of this demo wanted to get rich/famous, but only 10% wanted to help others. He indicated this is a glaring issue and he addressed it w/ his players.
  • Coach Hazell refers to the running back tandem as "The Law Firm of Wells & Wells".
  • Coach Tressel is very pleased w/ the progress of Mo Wells during spring ball and he also mentioned KC Christian.
  • As spring practice comes to an end, Brian Robiskie, Donald Washington III, and Malcolm Jenkins may join the track team to work on speed. Coach thinks they can score for us in the Big 10 conference meet in a relay (4X100 possibly).
  • Coach is pleased w/ Anderson Russell's recovery and called him "one of the best safeties in the Big 10".
  • Coach said Jake Ballard is injured, but he thought would be fine by fall camp. He said Jake is going to be an OUTSTANDING tight end for the Buckeyes.
  • Coach liked the development of Todd Boeckman - his feet have been the best of the three QBs and he has the most confidence right now.
  • He thought the D-line was really coming along - Denlinger, DWorthington especially. He feels Gholston will be a star this year and Lawrence Wilson is ready for full time at the other DE spot.
  • Coach mentioned Ray Small, Devon Lyons, and Albert Dukes as having improved immensely during Spring Ball....
That is about all I can think of right now.
