That's the part that bugged me. He gave up halfway through the route. If he is with the ball as he should've been even if he can't stop the pick he tackles the guy at his own 5.

To knock them out, get style points, and limit their cheating up. Also, there were other options on the play. He saw one-on-one coverage and a solid shot for his WR to the inside. Unfortunately, the threw the ball outside. Shit happens.
