tOSU @ Indiana, Sat 1/10 @ 12p ET on ESPN/WatchESPN

Tough loss 17/27 at the line hurt.

Had a FT attempt to tie it they wouldn't miss a FT and then they inbound under their own hoop with 5 seconds left instead of pushing it up the court for a better shot.

Oh well good game I guess.

Well, the after action review of this one will be lengthy but as obvious as an earthquake.

Can't shoot 3s that badly and expect to win ever.

Can't shoot FTs that badly and expect to win on the road.

Can't not be aggressive in rebounding.

Can't be disengaged on in-bounds plays.

Can't stop playing just because you blocked the ball.

All these issues and they were still somewhat close to winning (and close to getting run out of the gym too). This team is going to be maddeningly inconsistent all year. I still think they are a borderline at best NCAA team at this point in time, but February and March will tell the tale.

I really don't understand the offense. Every play is based off of the same action. Russell gets the ball. Dribble to one side handoff to Loving. Loving waits for Scott to come over for the exchange. Meanwhile, Russell is running a baseline curl from the weakside to ballside. Loving drops down and sets another screen for Russell to come up. If Russell gets the ball he runs head tap for Amir to come up and set high ballscreen and then disappear.

Does Ohio State not have ANY quick hitters? Christ, my AAU team that I ran had over two dozen plays out of four low, four high, four around one, five out, high ball screen action and traditional three around two sets in addition to two motion offenses. That was just the stuff against man defense. If we needed a basket we had something to run that the other team hadn't seen.

This team is going to struggle in any game where Russell struggles. There simply isn't another guy on the team that can lead offensively. Loving has all the talent, but he won't take the next step until he gets that killer instinct. His being passive out there is his biggest (and maybe only) weakness.

I don't think this loss is because of shooting technique or lack of plays to run (not that those aren't problems).

We would have won had we played 40 minutes of intense basketball.

On another note, I love CBB, but if I didn't have a DVR I don't think I could keep watching. Ten minutes to play 40 seconds of hacking and free throws is anything but basketball. And whoever thought the "official review" would improve the game should be shot. Seems like every time I want to watch a game I miss the first 15 minutes while some team in the game before commits 12 fouls trying to cut a 10 point lead to 5. Boy is that fun to watch. If you are behind by 10 with a minute to play you have no business even trying to win the game.

Just got back from the game.

Haven't read through this thread, but I have a LOT of thoughts about this team (and some coaching) right now. But it's mostly just summed up as "disappointing" to this point.

I'd rather just think about Monday night.

Also, I'm starting a Kickstarter for Ted Valentine's retirement fund to get that guy the hell out of basketball.

Grade A piece of shit for the game. Myself and the Hoosiers around me were equally miffed at TV Ted. No place for his antics. Fuck him.

(I'm praying Dakich was vocal about this on the broadcast...?)
