So that's sorta revisionist history there. As has been pointed out, JT went 23-3 and won a Rose and a Sugar Bowl, but beyond that, the game in 2008 against USC wasn't even more than a 2 score game until late in the 2nd quarter, so saying it was "immediately a rout" isn't true. That game at USC when it was a rout immediately made me know it might be over for Tressel
Phillip Bell, also. He played with Luke at Mission Viego.Luke and Chris Henry Jr have to both be stoked about this game. Hopefully they hook up for a few nice plays against the Trojans.
To be fair, Tanner didn't say it was immediately a rout. He said, "when it was a rout, immediately made [him] know it..."So that's sorta revisionist history there. Years of wrong bets have me a little shy. But it seems like a good time to bet the "under", doesn't it?OSU is still a touchdown favorite 3 time zones away. And over/under is 53.5. Doesn’t Vegas know we have a backup QB coming in?
We did lead 3-0 though, so that's something. It definitely was demoralizing and I think we all questioned if JT still had it, especially coming off the 2 NC losses. To add insult to injury, Oregon State upset them the next week. But Tressel did get the program back on track and even broke the SEC curse vs Arkansas. Would've for sure competed for the 2011 NC if not for tat gateFair enough. I exaggerated too much there. That might have been the most non competitive Ohio State game Ive ever seen though
It took USC as little time as it could take going up against a Tressel team for the score to get out of reach. So that's sorta revisionist history there. It was clear very early on that we were in as much trouble as I could recall seeing an OSU team unless you went back to the late Earle/early Cooper days.
I lost all faith in Tress keeping us at a NC level seeing that one after the way ‘06 and ‘07 ended.
Forgot that Khary Wilder is also a So Cal guy. It would be nice to see him return to the field helathy and contribute against USC.Phillip Bell, also. He played with Luke at Mission Viego.
While I've managed to pretty much block any memory of that game from my mind, the one thing I remember is that my work had an emergency and I got called in during the game. I lived 10 minutes from where I worked. USC score twice while I was driving in and was about to score again when I pulled in the parking lot.It took USC as little time as it could take going up against a Tressel team for the score to get out of reach.
