Game Thread tOSU at USC, Sat. Oct. 31st, 7:30 pm ET, NBC

Fred Taylor was a family friend. He told my mother that he could not get over the failure of Ohio State and the NCAA to respond appropriately to the vulgar attack on Luke Witte and the Ohio State coaches, players and fans at Minnesota. It disgusted him and he just could not let it go.

Gemini says: Ohio State basketball coach Fred Taylor was not fired; he voluntarily resigned (quit) from his position.

On 5 February 1976, Taylor submitted his official resignation letter to Ohio State University President Harold Enarson, effective at the end of the 1975–76 season.

Context of His Resignation
  • Personal Reasons: In his letter, Taylor explicitly cited "personal reasons" for stepping down after 18 seasons as head coach. He requested to be relieved of his coaching duties and reassigned to another position within the university.
  • Declining Record: While contemporary reports and columnists noted that Taylor faced mounting criticism due to a recent dip in the team's winning record—failing to replicate the massive success of his earlier years—he chose to step away on his own terms rather than face termination.
  • University Response: President Enarson expressed regret over the decision, stating in a reply letter that he had originally hoped Taylor would continue directing the university's basketball program.
Taylor finished his legendary career at Ohio State with a 297–158 overall record, having led the Buckeyes to seven Big Ten titles and the 1960 NCAA National Championship.
This is correct.

His good friend Ed Stahl said the same thing.

Buckeyes need to bring more pressure on a QB than they have all year. Blitzing most of the time is what I’d like to see, Maiava throws the ball well but he makes some unbelievably bad decisions when feeling the heat. Don’t just contain him, don’t sit back in coverage - send all sorts of blitzes and create turnovers.

A pick-6 can create the winning margin tonight.

All this media chatter about Fahey is ridiculous.

“He better hope he can find a way to get the ball to 4!”

You think they’re going with the 3 star 5’11 QB because he doesn’t know how to get the ball to 4?

Get your heads out of your fucking asses. Fahey and 4 are balling the fuck out in practice for him to get this opportunity over the 5 star stud.

Shut the fuck up.

Even if he has a bad day today…

Shut the fuck up.

The kid won the job because the 5 star can’t cut the mustard right now. This is the harsh truth about the situation. If the kid wants to see the field, show up and show out or transfer. Those are your options here where the best effort is expected if you want to start.

I have no problem with this statement. Now, where is your evidence that TSC has not put the effort in (since this is a veiled shot at him)?
