The Buckeyes head to DKR to face the Longhorns and the Arch Manning hype machine, the teams will be meeting for the third straight season.

tOSU leads the all-time series 3-2, winning both previous contests in that state, in 2006 at DKR and at JerryWorld during the 2024 postseason run.

Could Texas have a potential OL issue in 2026 too?

Texas, Alabama among teams with lingering roster question marks as 2026 transfer portal cycle winds down

With transfer options dwindling, these teams face some question marks entering spring football

Texas: Offensive line

The offensive line was the weak spot of Texas' 2025 roster, forcing Steve Sarkisian to replace two mainstays from that unit. He landed a likely starter at tackle in Melvin Siani but could still benefit from adding a ready-made option on the interior.

Given the Longhorns' aggressive approach at other positions -- and their flawless execution in a highly successful cycle -- it was somewhat surprising that they were only involved with one highly regarded lineman. Perhaps Siani's arrival, combined with another year of development from Trevor Goosby, Brandon Baker and Connor Robertson, will be enough to spark improvement and fill the remaining gap on a championship-caliber roster.

They had Oline issues all this past year.

Good morning, from the North Coast.

I was talking with my football circles about defensive fronts, evolutions of attacking protections, etc etc. In that talk I was able to source a clip from the 06' game on a particular front Texas used.

20 years on September 12th, to the date. It's incredible because I remember the hype that entire off-season for the rematch.

I came to BP to see what discussion there might be because I don't keep up with rosters like I used to. With the advent of the transfer portal, it feels like a part time job anyway. A farcry from when you practically knew the 2 deep year over year.

Now.... nothing. I don't know the extent of contributing factors in decline - if it's the medium of forums themselves that has shrunk in popularity? Perhaps those who were so passionate in this community have moved on or left us? (RIP & Godspeed)

But I do know this, from my perspective at least; The expanded playoff system (pinch of death in regional integrity/recruiting) has all but crushed what excitement I used to feel for the few calendar circling games you had a year. Especially those big, OOC games.

I went back to check the 2006 thread and here I am now, 20 years later in this vacant lot. My God... how things have changed so much. I'm not convinced for the better either.

These games have been watered down in value. In turn, the degree of importance, including all of the anxiety, anticipation, excitement and hype (you know, the fun build up to these games?) that comes with such high stakes, has seemingly evaporated.

I feel like I've lived through the death knell of college football as I, and countless others, knew and loved it for 100 years. What stands in it's stead looks* like the same thing to my eyes, but my heart sees it as something of an imposter now.

One thing you can bet on, UT will have the best team money can buy. Whether they perform like that, kinda up in the air. PS, seem to recollect that tOSU was in the 'hunt' for Brandon Baker, but got outbid by the Longhorns. Anyone know definitively how well he's doing? Or is it a 'whew' that he went to Texas (a la Felix Ojo)? Anyway, I get a bang out of seeing which 'next best things' that was/were going to tOSU find out who cratered, and contrarywise, cringe when look at the pre-season mags and see someone tOSU went after on the ratings lists.....

Texas receiver shows awful moves a few months ahead of huge showdown with Ohio State

This video is worse than the one that Brandon Inniss had a few weeks ago.

Over each of the last two seasons, the Ohio State football team has taken down Texas. In 2024, it was in the Cotton Bowl, which propelled them towards winning the national championship. Last season, the Buckeyes took down the Longhorns at home in the Shoe in the season opener.

This year, the Ohio State Buckeyes travel down to Austin in Week 2. Both teams will get a warm-up game in Week 1 before this massive clash. These are two of the best teams in the country again, so this game will certainly have College Football Playoff implications.

In the offseason, Texas added Cam Coleman from the Transfer Portal. The former Auburn wide receiver was viewed as one of the best prospects in the portal. The newest Longhorn recently had a workout that was videotaped. If this is any indication of how he's going to play, Ohio State is going to be very happy.

Cam Coleman's offseason workout should make Ohio State fans happy

In several of the clips, Coleman looks like his shoes are stuck in mud. He looks slow as he starts each route. What makes matters worse is that he doesn't have any defense playing against him.

Ohio State receiver Brandon Inniss received some criticism for a similar video that came out with his offseason work. However, it's pretty clear that Coleman's tape is much worse than what Inniss put out. Coleman is supposed to be an elite talent. Inniss has never been better than a third option.

If this is how Coleman is going to play when these two teams meet in September, Ohio State fans are going to be ecstatic. Ohio State is replacing a couple of starting cornerbacks, so a slower Coleman would certainly help the defense in that big matchup.

Texas fans have been touting his arrival as something that can help take the team to the next level. Now, fans are piling on him about looking slow. A few months ahead of the biggest matchup for Texas in the non-conference portion of the schedule, this looks bad.
