And I think the coaches failed Will Howard in that game. He was clearly concussed.

I don't think Kyle McCord wins that game either though.

McCuin had a pretty brutal drop on a back shoulder throw in the 3rd as I remember....

I'm not sure it was as much as a drop as he didn't stop on a back shoulder fade and just tried to one hand it while still running. It was a difficult catch but only cause he made it difficult on himself.

And I have zero issue with that number. Smith was the best player on the field tonight and you get him the goddamned ball.

You get him the ball when he is open. Some of those throws he was covered and it would have been less than a 50/50 ball. Better to throw it to another receiver that isn't covered.

If he just catches that slant on the last real drive, I think they score a TD.

Give texas their due, they were pretty decent in coverage most of the night. This might be their best defense since 2005 honestly.

I do wonder where the middle of the field went. It was open early and then they stopped throwing it in the 2nd quarter onward.

I don't know. This was an all time choke job, this is much harder to bounce back than just a regular type of hard fought road loss. I'm expecting 3 losses at this point.

You may be right. This is gut wrenching. But it might just send a message that talent alone is not enough and that they need to be ruthless. Remember the loss to TCUN and the national championship that followed. They will know right now that they will need everything they've got.

When the game started and the way that it did, I remembered Ted Ginn running an opening kickoff for a touchdown against Florida, getting injured, and everything falling apart. This doesn’t have to be the end of the season or the end of national championship hopes. It needs to be a wake up call to the coaches and players. I don’t really think we’ll know whether they’ve heard that call until the Indiana game.

The whole half was play not to lose. This isn't the 1st time weve seen it from Day on offense but it also came from the defensive side in this one which is why it's even more alarming

Going vanilla in the second half forced the defense to play more.
