tOSU at Nebraska, Sun 2/9, 2pm EST, BTN

Untimely injuries and fouls didn’t help today. Very winnable game. Nebraska shot 52% which usually equates to a win. Foul disparity wasn’t too bad for a road game. It’s just at the time they were called. Literally at the end of possessions with 5 seconds left. Those are defense killers.

When do we have the Diebler discussion?
Not after this season. Just a lot of stuff working against him right now. Gotta at least give him another season to show what he can do with this program before you even have a discussion. This team missed a lot of easy shots today, they did manage to win some games in January & are basically a middle-of-the-pack team in the B1G which is what the objective analysts kind of predicted. I realize he recruited a lot of these guys, but he wasn't the head coach for some of them & he's in a bad spot this season with 2 key starters Okpara and Gayle transferring, plus their highest profile transfer addition Meechie not contributing. Hopefully this next offseason we won't see 2 starters transfer, as that has really caused some setbacks.

I agree it's nowhere near time to talk about firing him, BUT - it's really frustrating seeing tCun having early success with their hire and we seem to be stuck in neutral...even with all the offseason hype with the transfers, etc.

I'm just tired of tOSU basketball being mediocre. It's been over a decade since we were a nationally relevant program. We haven't advanced past the second round of the tournament since 2013...going on a dozen years. If we miss the tourney again this year (appears likely), that makes just 4 NCAA appearances in the last decade. We are not a blue blood basketball program, but with our resources, that is unacceptable by any measure.

I had my reservations about the Diebler hire, though I did kind of get it. I'm just concerned that he was a short-sighted "feel good" hire because he had some late-season success and was just given the keys. I wish we would have at least kicked the tires on a couple of other guys. Hopefully this season's just a hiccup. But this is a critical offseason coming up for the overall direction of the program. I just want a team that looks like it can make March fun again.

100% on all of this. Felt like an interim feel-good hire as you said, but we had to give it some time and still do. This is a horrible loss, no words need to be minced. But if there are not many quality wins from here on out, we might have downgraded from CH. I hope not, but it is feeling like it.
