Game Thread tOSU at Miami FL, Sept 17, 7:30 pm ET, ESPN

If I'm game planning for this OSU team I stack the box most of the time and dare the QB to make plays in the passing game. At the very least it will keep the scoring down and shorten the Buckeyes time of possession giving your team more time to move the ball. Only the better teams we play will have DBs capable of consistently covering our receivers. Miami has talent at DB and could make this work if they're at full strength.
I have doubts about Miami's pass rush which could help our QBs have enough time to attack coverage. But where is our pass rush?
And we need Stoney and the WRs to make plays when they are called upon. We cannot depend on our kicker right now to win it for us and that could be a deciding factor in this tight game.
So.
Who will make the fewest mistakes?
Will it come down to the kickers and special teams?
Have your antacids handy.

Just a few thoughts...

I told people before the Toledo game that I was more worried about them than Miami. That still stands. I just don't see the same type of fire in them that I see in Toledo. That team is inspired and has been for some time now. I don't care who thinks otherwise. They play with the mentality that they can beat anyone. I also believe they would blow Miami out.

Early in the game, it was reported that Toledo was heard on the sideline saying "We got them right where we want them." and "We got this!" -- They weren't playing to be competitive, they felt the W was theirs to lose. I can guarantee you will hear none of that on Miami's sideline early in the game this Saturday if we're in a tight game. They will be biting their nails.

They want to strike early and never let off the gas, because if they do, they will lose. You can bet that they are going to try to take advantage of our special teams unit once again with big returns. No one wants to see Harris try to take the ball 80 yards against our defense. They've seen the outcome once before and my gut tells me it would be similar this time around. We have to lock returns down. I think that's a huge key to this game as they will rely heavily on it to win. Miami doesn't want a grudge match, they want a track meet. Win the field position, win the ball game.

There should be plenty of tickets available. Even with the Florida OSU alumni going. And it will probably rain at least once.

Rains will most likely be done by kickoff (although the tailgating might be wet), and then it will just be muggy the rest of the evening. That's just how it is down here.

As some others have mentioned, Toledo may be a better team than Miami this year. With that being said I like our chances in this game, I think this team can only get better as the year goes on, hopefully we get the 3 suspended players back this week because they would be a major boost to the team as will the guys we get back in week 6.

Spread was at Miami by 2.5 last night. Looks like it's at Miami by 2 right now.

I am optimistic about Jordan Hall and Travis Howard returning for this game. I think we'll need Jordan a lot. Also, I think we'll see Braxton a lot in this game. It's just hard for me to think that we wouldn't at least use his legs in this one. But then again, I thought that last week too.

Wonder who gets the most carries at RB.

Berry? Hyde? Of course that might depend a lot on whether Jordan Hall is available.

Berry is still not on the 2 deep at RB so I wouldn't count on Berry getting more than 5 carries if any. However the depth chart seems pretty fluid this year...

:banger: he who likes to complete passes to the other team

But after the fun the guy allegedly has had since being in South Beach, who cares? ...To save us all the time and effort so we can all move on and do other things with our lives, let's just assume Jacory Harris is going to give the ball to the Buckeyes in a variety of fun and creative ways. Set the over/under on Harris turnovers at 2.5, and it would be higher if he wasn't likely to be replaced by Stephen Morris.
