tOSU 50, Purdue 75 (Final)

probably a decent time to post this story...

I was a freshman at FSU and UF was in town for bball. The officiating crew was Teddy Valentine, Bob Delaney, and I want to say Karl Hess.

Anyways, the offiating was as usual, incredibly brutal. Several times directly in front of us, Florida would tip the ball out of bounds and still be rewarded the basketball.

Anyways, the officials had just blown another call, and Bob Delaney comes and stands directly in front of me at half-court (we have a section called the 'Nole Zone' where students stand directly behind press row). I ask Bob how many times they are going to give Florida the ball when it is clearly off of them.

He has a little chuckle and turns back to the court, at which point I yell to him "Bob, you're lucky as hell Teddy is in the same crew otherwise you'd be the worst ref out here." The students had no idea what I was talking about, but press row was cracking up.

Bob turns around and asks me if I was "going to hit puberty any time soon?" (admittedly as a college freshman I probably looked 14, so props to him).

Anyways, after that little quip my buddy immediately yells "but who's got the bigger d@ck?" to which the student section all yelled "ooooooooohhhhh" and press row was uncontrollably laughing.

Bob laughed and headed to the opposing baseline....

Yep.

They need to be called out. The refs are completely lost on all the calls. Missed out of bounds calls. Terrible touch calls. Missing guys getting smacked in the head. They are in over their heads. Just awful performance by the stripes.

Either these refs are getting paid off, or they can't tell the difference between white and red. I'm watching a streaming feed with the resolution of an Atari 2600 game, and I could see that the ball went of Kramer. Then they miss ET getting swiped in the face on a shot. Two phantom calls on OSU to follow up that crap. I don't know how much longer I can watch this.

I loathe Ed Hightower. I loathe him. And Jim Burr is not far behind on my Hate List. Hightower and Burr are absolute ass-clowns. And when I have wagered on a game and then I see those two step onto the court it sends a rage through my body that I haven?t yet learned how to properly express.
I can?t stress enough how absolutely horrid these two officials are, and the best part is that they are a pair. Less Laurel and Hardy and more Louie Anderson and Sinbad. But the bottom line is that these two dominate any game that they are involved in, they are always trying to make game-changing calls, they each have rabbit ears, they prey on players that they don?t like, and they are so far past whistle-happy that they are whistle-hard-on. In short, they are a mess.

I'm just following the game in this thread...I gave up early in the first half after Thad got T'd up on nothing, and BJ was hit up with abrutal offensive foul.

Keeps my anger level down.....
