What is going on in Arkansas? First we learn of the death of thousands of black birds in Beebe, and then comes the news that thousands of dead fish have washed ashore a river near Ozark.
Experts believe that since all of the estimated 100,000 fish found dead were a single species of fish--the drum fish--they likely perished from some type of disease. "If it was from a pollutant, it would have affected all of the fish, not just drum fish," explained Keith Stephens of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Not sure about the concept that it would've affected all fish. My aquatic toxicology professor would be appalled. This is absolutely untrue, and in fact, acute toxicity thresholds vary widely by species based on a variety of environmental and physiological factors. Not that it matters for the game, just couldn't resist pointing out that they clearly have no idea what the shit they're doing.

Can't wait for the game to get here! Really excited to see how the D performs. That, and whether or not the guys pull together, TP tries too hard or just focuses, etc., etc., etc., etc...

Mostly just looking forward to actually having a live buckeye game to talk about.

A pollutant would have affected all the fish in the waters - thought to differing degrees.

So you would not likely have seen only drum fish tits up in the river.

Hence the current theory that this large kill of a single species is due to a disease.
