tOSU -17.5 at Illinois (ov/un 50.5) Noon ET, BTN

Jesse Palmer is now convinced the Buckeyes can't win a big game if they have to throw the football, which is what the Giants thought about Jesse if they ever had to put him in a game when he was there.

I love how these talking heads knee jerk every week.

It's all planned by ESPiN to get the Buckeye fans calling in and watching.
It's just "noise".

Funny thing was, Lou and May didn't say anything negative but Saunders and Palmer were having a ball on ABC.

BTW, as for the "noise" don't think some of the idiot voters aren't influenced by it. Some of them are dumber than Palmer.

Well they did beat Oregon by throwing the ball. Oregon isn't known for their pass defense but it was still a big game. Everybody knows OSU can pound the football. I didn't see the game and saw where Pryor got hurt, but his passing didn't look that impressive. It looked like he ran the ball very well. OSU doesn't really need to throw the ball to win many games. They play solid d and got some running backs that do alright. I'm surprised Berry doesn't get more pt.

Throwing was on the backburner today with 28-35 mph winds...it was full-on Tresselball. His passing has been fine up until today...can't really read much into a buttoned up gameplan, but that won't stop the casual fan and the pundits (who don't even watch the games)...

The teams COMBINED for less than 200 yards passing. There was also a 41 yard FG into the wind that fell short, kicked by a guy who had made 9 in a row.

Wind played a factor. The teams played to the conditions.

That's ok though - most coaches not named Kiffin (and he doesn't have a vote anyway) understand that you have to do that at some point.

The idiots in the media won't and don't understand that, but the AP poll is more or less meaningless anyway.

Some serious wind.

plus some people don't understand Illinois is serious about illibuck. Ever few years they seem to give the buckeyes trouble.

Yep. Illinois might not be all that good, but they're a better team than they've had the past two years. They went out and hired a pair of good coordinators. They've had talent all along, it was just being wasted. This year, it's actually getting coached up a bit.

You guys sure about that wind? I was monitoring the weather at Champaign-Urbana airport and the top gusts I saw were 32 KM per hour (20 mph). Weather was averaging about 5-10 mph.

Not possible that if TP was healthy, we might have seen much more passing success?

Airport readings aren't always accurate...sensors are often at the end of runways which sit at the bottom of downward slopes.

Looking at the CMI (Champaign-Urbana airport) observations, they were observing 25-28 knot winds (28-32 mph) throughout the game. Looked pretty windy to me.

I wasn't able to watch the game but when I finally was able to turn on a radio I was listening to one of those sports talk shows. The first thing I heard was "Pryor seriously damaged his chance at winning the Heisman" and I thought they'd lost. But yes, in wind like that nobody is going to throw the ball well, this game was a W and nothing more, nothing left to look into.
