I think too many of us are ignoring this fact because of the easy victories. When we start playing some more hard-fought games this is really a concern for me. You never know what you are going to get when Smith and Thomas, not to mention our bench players. go to the free-throw line. I have some confidence in the other 3 starters.
Honestly, free-throw shooting is not a concern to me. Our losses have not at all been attributable to the foul line.

If I thought Matta and the team were ignoring this aspect of the game, I might be more concerned, but I think they're aware of the importance of free throws. As I look at box scores of our four close games, we've done much better than in the blowouts:

Florida, 7-point victory: 79.4%
Kansas, loss: 75%
S. Carolina, 8-point win: 80%
Indiana, loss: 80%
Illinois, loss: 100%

I think our low % in most games reflects a lack of focus when we're trouncing our opponent.

GPA

I thought we had shot free throws pretty well in our close games and it looks as if I was right. Thanks for posting
