Top 16 Impact Freshman for 2004

Okay-

Lets look at the concept of an impact player... By the way edge... you might want to change full to empty....

Anyway... Let's look at the teams those 16 guys are playing for... Not the Schools of the Blind exactly... you don't even need to start to be an impact palyer on those teams, all you need to de is change the outcome of 2 games... win two games that your team would not have won otherwise... and you... yes you are an impact Freshman... You do that for OSU, USC, OK, or LSU and you've gone from a 3 loss to a 1 loss season or 2 losses to zero... For us... Two well timed kick returns can change two games.

There will be 16 impact freshman... heck there will be 50 impact Freshman... in IA... but of them will be helping Louisiana Lafayette win 3 games instead of zero or helping Utah St Break Notrth Texas's Stranglehold on the Sun Belt... If Ginn is an impact player because he's a kid who can hit home runs for us outside of our normal conservative attack...All he needs to do isput pressure on the other teams coverage units... and make them account for him if he's on the field on offense... If he plays D this year... it will be a bonus....

The question wasn't who will be a Heisman candidate as a Freshman, BuckStocks. It was, among Freshmen, who will be the top impact players.

When Teddie played against those guys -- last year's HS Seniors, this year's Freshmen -- he blew everybody else away. He was MVP at the Army All-Star game and the star of the Big 33. He didn't come to tOSU to redshirt, BuckStocks. He's gonna play. Think Archie as a Freshman, or if you're too young to remember that, think Larry Fitzgerald. He's that good.

If you can name one other FRESHMAN who will have more impact, go right ahead.
I know. I didn't say anything about Heisman's(don't you have to be a QB or RB in Florida to warrant any consideration... ha ha).

I know he showed well at the all-star games. I know he won't redshirt, especially if he can play on special teams returning kicks. He is gonna play, I question HOW MUCH? I don't think you will see him as much as you think you will. Guess we will revisit this at the end of the year though. I don't recall Archie as a freshman - before my time, yes. He certainly isn't going to be as good as Larry was right away. That guy, was one of the best pure WR's I have ever seen. Anything that was thrown to him - he caught. Amazing. I don't know his stats as a freshman - but I do get your point.

I know he is supposed to have "freakish" skills. I hope he does. I'm simply saying I don't think he produces the all-world season most people here think he will. I just don't think he gets those opportunities.

Consider this question: If he gets say 8 catches as a WR plays in the 2nd squad DIME defense (not much playing time there), and returns say 3 TD's on special teams. Would you consider that above/below/equal to your expectations? I'm guessing that would be below yours, but for me that would be about equal if not a bit above.

Guess only time will tell the real story. Either way - go TEDDY go.
