Tony "Benedict" Alford (meh)

Things that weren’t/aren’t Alford fault: Henderson being injured so often. Day going away from the running game. The o-line unable to open/sustain holes. Michigan making all big ten backs from two stars. Michigan holding the ball throughoutsecond half two years in a row.

what I do wonder about is why Dylan never got on the field when it mattered.

I don't think it's that simple. You can easily make a case for the first two items there being at least partially attributable to Alford in the macro sense. If his recruiting isn't so poor, Miyan and Tre could've had the time they needed to heal in 2022 instead of being thrown back into the fire while hurt. And if that happens, is Day so quick to abandon the run?

Striking out on elite RBs means you've gotta go get guys that take longer to develop, which leads to issues when injuries pop up.

To me, this is ultimately a shared blame between Alford and Day. Alford didn't want to be here the last few years but also didn't want to take a lesser job. Day kept the guy around even though he was one foot out the door. It's on Alford for selfishly sticking it out when he didn't want to and it's on Day for retaining a guy who was perpetually ready to leave.

Not that I really know anything watching from the other side of the world. It feels like Day didn’t have enough confidence in the run game in the past several years. Another thing I noticed is that usually the backup is almost like a totally different level down. When they shine, like Miyan and Daylen some times, they have a hard time to keep up. Is it Alford or Frye? It seems like Day believe it was Alford.

Just hope Day and Kelly get another great hire. Finally the coaching team seems to be in great shape.

Go bucks!

I don't think I said that recently, but let me go on record as saying it now. You know who agrees with me? The NFL.

I'm referencing common sense, because I guarantee you Chris Olave doesn't agree with your batshit insane stance that Hartline sucks.
Smith has plenty of players he coached playing in the NFL. And he left a few first rounders for Hartline to take credit for. I never said Hartline sucks, but you know that.

I'm still waiting for you to show me evidence of a Hartline-coached receiver laying the wood. Here's an example for Smith:

we might eventually split off the discussion on wr coaching, but I’m not sure that Alford’s thread deserves that much moderation

I would like to see some of the polemics raised to a level more consistent with BP’s usual standards. A couple of common fallacies have crept into the conversation.

The Appeal to Authority fallacy is where you claim a point of view is correct simply because someone said so.

the trust-the-coaches fallacy?

What in the world has convinced you that a good WR needs to lay the wood? You have so many stupid parts to your stupid argument it's so hard to address them.
