Toledo @tOSU, Sat Sep 17, 7 ET on Fox

In three games, this Buckeye defense has allowed 43 points. They allowed 45 in the Rose Bowl to a solid, not great Utah offense. If you can't manage some excitement over that improvement and insist on continuing to worry because it ain't perfect yet, I don't know what to tell ya...
Zero points and negative yards or fuck off

This is a defense that was AWFUL for most of the last two seasons. It wasn't a few big plays, they were getting gashed. This year, that is not the case. They have been pretty much smothering the opposition with a couple of exceptions a game. Given that we just finished game three in a completely new scheme, fretting about it after we just mauled a pretty decent team by 56 points is some silly shit, in my IMO. I'm not saying Toledo is a force, but they are a pretty good team that has the ability to give some good teams fits and I can say with a high degree of confidence they probably would have put up 35 on us in 2020 or 2021.

The good thing is this is, again, game THREE in a completely different scheme and we currently rank among the best defenses in CFB statistically. There are 8 games between now and the end of November to figure out the weaknesses.

This is what I’m not understanding. We’re absent two starting safeties in a new safety driven defense and only won by 56. Fire everybody!

Get off the ledge people. It’s Week 3, not Week 13.

Fucking Christ, this Chicken Little shit every season is fucking exhausting. Go outside and touch grass once in awhile. Play with your kids. Stop pinning your hopes on 18-22 year olds shutting out a non-conference MAC opponent as being the key to your enjoyment of the entire fall season.

Life is too short to be pissed off all the time.

And maybe watch some offensive highlights. This team has an embarrassment of riches on that side of the ball. This might be the greatest assembly of WRs in the history of CFB and that's not even hyperbole.

But the QB did make things happen and there's a QB the last weekend of November that'll make us pay if we don't tackle too.

Big thing for me is we keep saying "well if we remove these 3 plays then...". Well we have to do better preventing those 3-5 plays.

Or at least prevent them from going 30+ yards etc.
The QB at the end of november is no where near that athletic.

He runs better then Clifford sure but I don't expect him to regularly destroy angles.

Toledo head coach Jason Candle addressed the media following tonight's 77-21 Ohio State victory:

We played a monster opponent tonight. It was as impressive of a performance by quarterback I’ve seen, which kind of overshadowed the brilliant play of our quarterback. I thought (Dequan Finn) had some really tough plays plays.

Candle had high praise for Ohio State on both sides of the ball.

Give Coach (Jim) Knowles and that defense a lot of credit. They'd given up one touchdown all year long coming into this football game. They're a good defense. Coach Day has them clicking on offense and playing at a high level. Defensively, not what we wanted to do or the outcome we wanted to have there...but hats off to Ohio State for putting a very efficient plan together in the 1st half of that football game.
