Hopefully JSN is healthy and ready to go. It would be good to get him a little work before the Wisconsin game. I have a nagging fear that the injury is worse than they’re letting on and could have a negative impact on the season. I hope I’m just being a nervous Nelly. I’ll feel a lot better when I see him out there at full go again.

Agreed, they did the same shit with Akron last year and made it a night game for no reason (mind you when I flew back to Ohio to go to the game with my dad for that one assuming it would be at noon). These types of games should not be night games.

Day just said both JSN and Fleming are expected to play, so that is good news. I don't think he says that so early in the week if he doesn't mean it. I doubt they would throw them out there against Toledo if there was any doubt, but definitely want to get them both some live game action so they don't come in cold against Wisconsin...granted Wisconsin looks down this year by a lot, they always play us tough and we need the offense at full strength for that one.

If Toledo had fans, I’d suggest they get a screen capture of Toledo’s national ranking in pass efficiency defense. It’s about to change.

Such statistical rankings are meaningless until at least Halloween, and this year’s Rockets team is a good example of why that is.

Toledo is ranked #2 in pass efficiency defense. They’ve played UMass and a lower division team. The team ranked above Toledo is Tulane. They also have played UMass and a lower division team. Both the Rockets and the Green Wave held UMass to a lower PE than the lower division team they played. Toledo held UMass to a PE of 64.90. Tulane held them to -5.21 (yes, negative).

I don’t know who’s taking over 2nd place when Toledo drops like an out-of-fuel rocket, but my money is on whoever plays UMass

I think it might actually be a strategy. Play the teams on the schedule at night where the crowd is going to be twice as rowdy in case only half the people stay. If this is a noon game, stands are empty by 2 with everybody gone to celebrate early. Get em good and lubed up so they scream bloody murder at the game before going for refills.

I see what you're saying on paper, but if turns out like Akron the net result was people mostly left early anyways and the atmosphere was pretty dead. People that were there were frustrated that Akron was a night game, so most left around the beginning of the 3rd quarter and really weren't any more enthused before they left. Not me, because mama didn't raise a quitter, but I think the overall atmosphere is better at noon for a game like that. Especially for those commuting in like I did from Dayton, sucked going there and driving an hour home that late to see us play Akron. Play a premiere team and I'll just get a hotel and roll with it, but an unranked MAC school? Nah. But it's moot for me, I'll just curl up on my couch for this one with my pup.

Oh it is, I was just riffing on someone's idea of a "strategy" to keep people at the game when it's over by the second quarter.

The last time Ohio State lost to an in-state opponent, Ohio Stadium wasn't even built yet.

The last time the Bucks lost to an in-state opponent was in 1921 when Oberlin took down Ohio State, 7-6, in front of 10,000 fans at Ohio Field.
