While leading Bene dictine High to a state title last season, star running back Raymond Williams faced plenty of high-pressure moments.
And Ohio's reigning Mr. Football faces some more after recently signing to attend West Virginia this fall.
According to a West Virginia spokeswoman, if Williams has his academics in order by this fall, he'll receive a full athletic scholarship at the university.
But if Williams doesn't meet his various academic requirements, says the West Virginia rep, he'll be required to pay for his first year in school - while hoping to be eligible for play in 2005.
And how big is the difference?
Right now, an out-of-state student attending West Virginia (like Williams will be) is paying a whopping $16,590 a year for tuition, fees, room and board.
CLEVELAND - The reigning Ohio Mr. Football was being questioned by police Monday in the shooting death of a Benedictine High School teammate, a police spokeswoman said.
Running back Raymond Williams, who led the Bengals to the Division III state title in November, was arrested earlier in the day along with a teammate, but neither player has been charged, Lt. Linda Kaspar said.
Williams and defensive back Jon Huddleston, both 18, were in custody at the City Jail. Police believe they were at the scene of Lorenzo Hunter's death earlier this month, Kaspar said.
Police charged Rodney Roberts, 20, with aggravated murder last week in Hunter's death about 2 a.m. April 16.
Police have said a witness told them that Hunter, 16, was trying to rob Roberts with a plastic gun. Roberts then pulled out a real gun, according to police.
Hunter, a sophomore wide receiver and safety, died of gunshot wounds to the chest, arm and hip.
Kaspar said she did not know if charges would be filed against Williams and Huddleston, both seniors at the parochial boys school. She did not know where they where arrested.
Williams was named the 17th annual winner of The Ohio Associated Press Mr. Football award just days before he rushed for 237 yards and two touchdowns in a 12-0 victory over Kenton in a state title game in Canton.
The West Virginia signee also was named first-team All-Ohio and Division III offensive player of the year after rushing for 2,099 yards and 27 touchdowns in the 2003 regular season. Huddleston also earned first-team honors
