One allegation is that players were offered money to sit out of games completely. That could definitely affect the outcome.OK, how do you shave points in football? A bikini wasx job maybe, but shave a point? No thank you.

Toledo unsure of other charges in alleged point-shaving
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) ? Athletic officials at the University of Toledo said Monday they don't know if any more players will be charged in what the FBI says was a point-shaving scheme.
Federal authorities arrested running back Harvey "Scooter" McDougle Jr. on Friday, charging him with participating in a bribery scheme to influence sporting contests.
McDougle, 22, and a senior from East Cleveland, recruited Toledo football and basketball players to participate in the scheme orchestrated by a Michigan man identified only as "Gary," according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court.

This is Northwestern we're talking about. If they started point-shaving, how could you tell the difference?BearBuck27;800886; said:...that we ever knew of. Let's face it, if you're willing to bet on the games, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a little point shaving going on.
Toledo player likely will not face point-shaving charges
By Michael McCarthy, USA TODAY
Federal authorities are likely to dismiss a criminal complaint for alleged point-shaving against University of Toledo running back Harvey "Scooter" McDougle, Jr., says Gina Balaya, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Detroit.
Authorities are also likely to cancel a scheduled preliminary hearing for the 22-year-old senior previously scheduled for Friday, Balaya told USA TODAY on Tuesday.
The U.S. Attorney's office, however, is proceeding with its "ongoing investigation" of McDougle with an eye toward filing new charges or seeking an indictment, she said. Balaya described the likely dismissal of the criminal complaint as more of a procedural delay to give the government more time to build its case.
