I tried the search feature nut could not find the thread about MR FIX IT jobs where toilet bowl flaps were discussed. I thought I remembered something about soaking them in vinegar to stop them from leaking.
Any ideas?

First soak them in bleach, then vinegar. Let flap dry completely and then do the following.

1) Put in ziploc bag
2) Heat oven to 315 degrees
3) Place ziploc bag on a pizza pan/stone or aluminum foil (either one works)
4) Heat for about 7-8 minutes (This gets rid of the microbes that cause the
leaking)

315 Degrees F is above the Glass Transition Temperature of the plastic used in Ziploc bags - I'm amazed with this temperature doesn't just end up with the flap stuck inside of this

A roaster bag would
work - but that's kind of pricey.

5) Once flap cools down soak in lemon juice to seal the leak.
6) Allow to dry for 4 hours exactly and then spray with an
industrial adhesive.
7) Reinstall

I would go by a new one but I just replaced the whole damn thing about 4 months ago with some new fangled gadget and the flapper is not the usual kind. I hate messing with toilets....
