Trashcan full of beer sends Polk man to jail

An early morning beer run has landed a Polk County man behind bars.

A police officer saw Darren Copeland wheeling a large trashcan down the sidewalk in front of the Lakeland Police Department's headquarters about 4 a.m. Wednesday. When the officer stopped Copeland and looked inside the garbage can, he found several cases of beer.

Copeland told the officer he "found" the beer next to a dumpster at the nearby Texas Cattle Company restaurant, a Lakeland police report released today said.

Mental note: When breaking into a resturaunt to steal beer you should have a couple things in mind, first off being that your get away route should avoid passing by the police station, a get away CAR might be a good idea too. :p
