IMO, LB/S/STAR most likely. He's got great hip turn, but is also big and physical. Heck I think he could play offense as well. He could play a number of positions, just a pure athlete.

CLARKSVILLE, TENN. ? For Jalen Reeves-Maybin, the past six months have been as crazy as it can get for a high-profile prep athlete.

The Northeast High junior is currently trying to keep his Eagles baseball team in the thick of the District 10-AAA tournament that began today while gearing up for his senior season on the football side. It?s the latter sport that has garnered red hot attention from college coaches around the country and has Reeves-Maybin on the cusp of becoming one of the most highly recruited prep football players in this city since another Eagles graduate, Travis Stephens.

Since November, 12 schools have offered the 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback, including the latest ? and biggest offer ? coming from Ohio State.

?Ohio State came to the school while we were in the weight room lifting,? Shelby said. ?We had been talking with them for a decent amount of time so it was no shock to us but it?s still Ohio State, you know? It?s (head coach) Urban Meyer.?

Shelby said Reeves-Maybin?s recruitment varies depending on the school and its need but he characterized it 50-50 as to which side of the ball he?ll play in college.

?Ohio State is recruiting him as a safety,? Shelby said. ?Some schools think he?s an outside linebacker. Some say he?s just a defensive athlete and they?d use him just about anywhere. I?ve heard some teams say he could play quarterback, an H-back, play in the slot as a wide receiver or running back.?

Wow, I just now got around to watching some of that highlight tape. This kid is a heck of an athlete and maybe even a better football player. I like him on offense, but I love what he could bring to the defensive side of the football. I like him potentially at either safety or linebacker. He seems like he's natural in space, great hip bend and flexibility. Sign him up.

Unionfutura brought up concerns about defending spread players in space in the future...this guy is the definition of the type of defender that can do just that. Love his game, whether he ends up at LB or S.

Tennessee LB “grazed by a stray bullet” Sunday, in class Monday

Tennessee linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin was shot in the arm early Sunday morning, but Tennessee officials say he did not require major medical treatment and was back in class on Monday. All things considered, that is cause for a major sigh of relief.

According to the Associated Press, a Tennessee athletics spokesperson claims Reeves-Maybin was merely grazed by a stray bullet while standing in a street outside a party early Sunday morning. According to police, Reeves-Maybin felt a sharp pain in his arm after someone started shooting.

According to the reports, it looks as though there is no threat to Reeves-Maybin’s playing career or practice availability this offseason. That said, getting grazed by a bullet is not exactly like stubbing a toe.

Obviously he has never heard the old coaches adage: "Nothing good ever happens after 2 AM".
