The Canadian Press: Steelers' Polamalu hurts knee

PITTSBURGH ? Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu injured his left knee late in the first half against Tennessee on Thursday night and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

Polamalu was injured when a Titans player fell on him as Steelers defensive end Aaron Smith blocked a 31-yard field goal attempt by Rod Bironas with about three minutes left in the half. Polamalu was attempting to pick up the ball.

There was no immediate word about the severity of Polamalu's injury, but he did not immediately leave the field for medical treatment. As he was leaving the sideline, he appeared to gesture as if the injury was not serious.
