It's always hard to make new friends in a strange country, so here's a couple of good conversations starters...

- Tell everyone you meet that you love rugby union and that, as would be the case with anyone else whose not inbred, you support the Boks (that's the local way to say Bucks
). You'll get a much better reaction from any Aussie after he's had a few beers, which is about any time of day, now that I think about it. - Pick a big guy who looks like he can take it, because they can get really emotional about this one, and ask him why Aussies are called "POMs" and then ask him what crime his ancestors committed to be sent there.
- If you get a chance to go to nearby New Zealand, just tell them how beautiful their country is. If that fails to start a conversation, buy you new Kiwi friend a couple of stiff ones and try asking why the New Zealand All Blacks aren't all black.

yes, Im not going to ayers rock. I does seem kind of boring. and its a full days plane ride. how much better is it than things you can see in the american west like arches or grand canyon or yosemite.
