[Updated at 2:01 p.m.] CNN's Ali Velshi who is on 47th Street and Broadway reports: "Times Square is entirely empty" on certain blocks

Only if we declare war on unclaimed coolers and water bottles at busy intersections. They must be eradicated. Thankfully, Capitol Hill is full of the brightest, most reasoned intellectuals in America, and they'll surely figure out a rational solution to this crisis in a timely manner.
