Tiger Woods (Official Thread)

Will forever be bummed we got robbed of Tiger in his 50’s competing on his short game and grit.

His body couldn’t hold up obviously. I always said Tiger would break Jack’s major championship record in his early 50’s with wins on hard tracks where short game is required.

He kinda showed that with his last Masters win, but his competing days are over…..unless he applies and is granted a golf cart due to disability (I don’t think he’ll ever go down that route).

Ernie Els is openly pushing him to join the Champions Tour bc he’d have access to a cart. I hope he does it bc it’s always great to see him in a competitive setting.

Absolutely remember an announcer, at one of Tiger's first PGA tournaments, suggesting that his 'reverse C' swing would injure his back. I kinda laughed, because that was what one aspired to. Anyway, after what, 6 back surgeries to date, Tiger is no longer a feared competitor in a tournament. It's been a minute since he was on Ryder Cup, President's Cup, or other honorary team. Anyway, my father is resting easier now that he's not going to take Jack's title of most Majors won.....

It doesn't seem real. Another rollover crash? He is going to get someone killed, whether it's himself or another. It will be interesting to see what the speed limit is - wouldn't be surprised if it's 25 mph from looking at the local news video of the crash scene. If so, how fast would he have been going to end up on his side? And how do you end up on the side of a Range Rover without it rolling all the way over?

It could have rolled a couple of times before ending up on its side. That’s what happened to the barrel rolling Hummer H2 that damn near took me and my wife out about 20 years ago.

The ESPN article links to a local news story, and the pictures and video of the SUV show it to be untouched on the top and passenger side of the vehicle. Those articles do not make clear an important detail, however, that may exonerate Woods. It was a 2 car crash - so it could have possibly been someone else's fault (not where I'd place my money). One of the articles mentions that Woods agreed to a breathalyzer but not a urine test. This could be pain killer / prescription drug use gone awry again.

Reportedly, he was speeding on a residential road close to his home. He tried to pass another vehicle, clipped it, and rolled over. Apparently nobody was actually hurt. He was arrested and charged with a DUI. He scored a ZERO on the breathalyzer and refused to submit a urine test. The police can hold him for 8 hours. They are trying to determine just what he was under the "influence" of.

Tiger's SUV can be seen on it's side in the photo:

Just sayin': It's not like he can't afford a chauffer. At this point in his life Tiger should just limit his driving to a "one wood".

You’d be surprised. The Hummer that nearly hit us rolled 2.5 times at about 70 mph and didn’t have visible damage, although a Range Rover might not be as durable. Follow up info. does suggest that didn’t happen here, however.

Tiger Woods had hydrocodone pills in pants after DUI rollover crash in Florida, police say

Police found two hydrocodone pills on golf legend Tiger Woods after the rollover crash last week in Florida that led to his latest arrest for driving under the influence, according to an affidavit released Tuesday.

Woods, who said the two-car crash happened after he looked down at his phone, had “bloodshot and glassy eyes,” “extremely dilated pupils,” and was “sweating profusely” as he sat in another vehicle that had its air-conditioning on when cops arrived, the affidavit says.

“Woods movement was lethargic and slow,” a Martin County Sheriff’s deputy wrote in the affidavit. “Woods had hiccups during the entire investigation.”
Hydrocodone can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired coordination, making it unsafe to drive or operate machinery until you are aware of how the medication affects you. Driving while impaired by hydrocodone is illegal everywhere in the US, regardless of whether you have a valid prescription.

Tiger Woods says he’ll seek treatment after pleading not guilty to DUI

Tiger Woods said Tuesday he is stepping away to seek treatment, four days after his vehicle crashed in Florida and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He will miss the Masters for the second straight year.

“This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery,” Woods said in social media posts.

Woods pleaded not guilty in his driving under the influence case in Florida on Tuesday, hours after a sheriff’s report said deputies found two pain pills in his pocket and he showed signs of impairment after his SUV clipped a trailer and rolled over on its side.

The online court docket for Martin County showed Woods entered a written plea of not guilty and planned to waive his April 23 arraignment hearing.

It’s the second time Woods has taken a leave following a car crash. In 2009, after his SUV plowed into a fire hydrant and tree outside his home near Orlando, he took a leave of absence to work on being a better person. That lasted four months and he returned at the Masters.
