Tiger Woods (Offical Thread)

(I wouldn't mind a bit if Steve Williams were not on his bag when Tiger comes back, however.)

You might get your wish. Williams gave an interview to New Zealand's version of 60 Minutes, in which he reportedly says he's mad at Tiger about the affairs, about which he claims to have known nothing.

It's hard to believe that he didn't know what was going on, and it's also hard to believe he's saying this if he wants to keep earning big bucks carrying Tiger's bag when he comes back.

Caddie Steve Williams says he's mad at Tiger Woods for affairs

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) ? Tiger Woods' caddie said he knew nothing about the golfer's extramarital affairs and was angry with him over the scandal.

Steve Williams told TV3's "60 Minutes" program Wednesday that he also is bitter at the reaction toward him from the media and members of the public.

"It's been the most difficult time of my life, no two ways about it, because every single person believed that I should know or did know or had something to do with it," Williams said. "I knew nothing, that's my answer. I don't have to clarify or extend that answer, I knew nothing."

The New Zealander, who has been Woods' caddie for 11 years, said he would have spoken up if he had known about the player's behavior.

"If the shoe was on someone else, I would say the same thing. It would be very difficult as a caddie not to know but I'm 100 percent telling you, I did not know, and that's that," he said. "I'm a straight-up sort of person. If I had known something was going on, the whistle would have been blown."

Williams said he was angry when revelations about Woods' private life emerged, but had not berated the player because he felt he needed a friend.

"Of course I'm mad at him, why would you not be?" Williams said. "I'm close with his wife and he's got two lovely children and he's let them down.

"When a guy's having a tough time, it's not up to me to beat him with a stick right now. He's getting enough grilling from everybody else.

"When you're a true friend of somebody, that's when somebody needs your support and need you the most. That's when you don't walk away. Tiger's one of my closest friends and he needs my support right now and I'd never think of walking away."

Williams said the two haven't discussed the scandal.

All good Irish companies need a recovering sex addict blasian as a spokesperson. I'd chip in a couple of quid just for the fun we'll have with the commercials.

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Scandal-plagued golfing star Tiger Woods turned down a $75 million sponsorship offer, an Irish bookie said Friday.
Paddy Power, a publicly traded company in Ireland and the U.K., said it offered Woods' representatives IMG $75 million over five years.
The company said it "remains keen" to ink a deal and will make an "enhanced" offer, the details of which will be made confidential.......

Ways to make yourself look like a complete asshole:

  1. Destroy your family by banging everything that moves.
  2. Hire Ari Fleischer to speak for you.

NY Post: Woods taps former Bush adviser Fleischer to plan return at Bay Hill

Does this mean Tiger Woods is a Republican?
The New York Post's Mark Cannizzaro reported Thursday that Ari Fleischer, former press secretary to President George W. Bush, is helping Tiger Woods plan his return to golf at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, which begins March 25.
"They were in his living room this week going over a strategy for how to handle Bay Hill in two weeks," one source told The Post.
The other source told The Post, "I would be shocked if he didn't play the Arnold Palmer."
Palmer himself reportedly has told some close confidants that Woods is definitely playing Bay Hill. Quietly, the people running the tournament are preparing for a larger-than-usual media crush.
Fleischer, whom Bush nicknamed "Ari-Bob," advised Mark McGwire during the slugger's belated admission in January that he used steroids during his career. Fleischer was also rumored to be involved in Woods's public apology at TPC Sawgrass last month, which would help explain the presidential blue curtains behind Woods as he read his prepared statement.
Ari Fleischer Sports Communications was formed in 2008 and is a joint vernture with IMG, Cannizzaro reports.
According to Woods's friend Mark O'Meara, Woods might return to competitive golf even earlier than Palmer's tournament. O'Meara told The Golf Channel he "wouldn't be surprised" if Woods played the Tavistock Cup next week. The two-day tournament pits residents of Orlando's Lake Nona community against nearby Isleworth. Both communities are home to many PGA Tour pros, including Woods, who lives in Isleworth. The tournament is not open to the public, but it will be broadcast on The Golf Channel.

youre suggesting his demeanor will no longer be swearing under his breath, "controlled" outburst, and slamming clubs around?

If the crowds are against him, he might be swearing more openly.

I do think it'd be great if one of those poker websites, etc., hired a female streaker to run towards him in his first tournament back. That might change his demeanor--and would make for one great publicity stunt.

Even better, one for each mistress. 13, 14--whatever it is--naked women running down the fairway towards him

I think there is a very, very small potential, but one way this could go is that he has a total meltdown. Personally, I think it is more likely that Bike beats Ohio State, but a swearing, club-throwing, f-bomb laden game could happen if he really loses it in one of the first couple rounds with some errant shots.

To be fair to Woods, no matter what his actions in his personal life, these first few rounds are going to be a real pressure cooker. I still believe that he will find it very hard to no longer be what he once was and to see his fan support much lower. But, we'll see.

I also think that Tiger will come back really strong. His faults damaged his image and he lost the advertising deals and so a lot of money. I think he wants to improve his reputation and gets control over his personal life again. Elin had to suffer a lot but I am sure she will support Tiger the next months.
