That's a pain in the buns
I figured I'd make an interest thread about doing a golf league and this would possibly get more interest since its away from the info thread.
Here's what I am thinking:
General Info
- This is NOT a Kinect only league. Players can use controllers as well
- Play 1 full tournament (4 rounds or however many everyone wants to play) a week or we could do more. I don't think this would be hard as if we did 2man groups, rounds will go quick. Even 4 man groups wouldn't take too long if we did simultaneous play
- We will go through all the courses (about 16-20) on disk 1 time to complete a "season" and if we wanted, we could do special events like Ryder cup/match play/fed ex cup as well
- I think an 8+ golfer league would be perfect
Rules
- Not sure what difficulty we play on, I was thinking Pro or Tour Pro. If we do Pro, we'd have the hardest pin placements, fast greens, long rough
- I for one am not a fan or power boost/mid air spin. I was thinking we get rid of those, but we can discuss this later
- You can't play by yourself. Must play with another golfer. If we do 2 man groups, and your partner is a no show, then we will make a 3 man group.
- Everyone in the group reports everyone's score in the group each round
- I was thinking we do groupings randomly, that way we get to play with everyone. I originally thought we'd do groups like how they do in the pros (1&2,3&4,etc) but we could essentially play with same guys over and over
Scoring
- 4 rounds (or however many), lowest score wins each tournament
- I was thinking a points system for where you place in a tournament:
Example (10 man league): 1st place gets 10pts, 2nd gets 9pts, etc. This is dependent on how many guys we have
- The points accumulate after each tournament for a season total. So if we have 8 guys in the league, and you win 1st 2 tournaments, you'd have 16 points overall and so on.
- If you start a tournament and miss a round you are automatically given a score of (x) which x is the highest score for the round plus 2 shots? If you quit during a round, you are also given the score format in the above sentence
- If you miss a tournament all together, you automatically are given the lowest point total. Or we could do it as, you don't receive any (0) points towards the "season" total
These rules/info/scoring etc is just a base idea, and we can change things around if agreed upon
I think that's about it. Really this is just to get some guys together who love golf. It's more of a social, have fun, drink beer, and enjoy the shenanigans. I know if it's anything like recruiting went for NCAA it will be a blast.
Let me know if you're in, and I'll edit this post with guys that will play. If you have friends that would play let them know too, but they also have to be down with keeping up (see 2nd bullet point under general info). I know I look forward to having some fun with this.
