Anyone ever buy tOSU tix from eBay? I'm about to drop a certified check in the mail and I'm nervous as hell...

The guy has a 100% rating, but this is the flippin' internet for chrissake.

Any words of advice?

I've done the check thing for tickets before, pre-paypal. It doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about, but you never know. I put 0% stock in the feedback rating. That is easily faked. But you've got emails and an address and phone number, usually the scammers don't get that involved with somebody.

What game you going to?

do you have a credit card or debit card? B/c signing up for paypal is a LOT smarter. They have fraud protection to return your money... and its a better system for future purchases too.

Its the Illinois game but I'm not going...they are for Mom.

I do have PayPal but he requested a certified check. FWIW, his address and phone number are the same on various people searches I did.

I'd say this is legit

Is it Cbus? If it is, it may be a bit safer to have someone here pick up the tix for you and do a face-to-face exchange, and then have that person mail them to you. That way, if he doesn't show, or if they're bogus tix, you won't lose any money. I can handle that if you'd like...I'm honest, I swear!

I have bought OSU basketball tickets via eBay; fortunately they were from local sellers, and I drove to their house to pick up/pay for the tickets.

Comments/Advice:

You might verify the phone number is legit. by calling him or trying the reverse lookup:

How many transactions are there in the "100% rating"? The more the better. Also, the longer that he has been selling the better.

If he accepts PayPal use it. If something goes wrong, you then have some recourse through the credit card, etc.

If you send a check you might want to consider sending it registered with a return receipt so you can verify/prove he received it. That only costs a couple bucks more with the post office.

Good suggestion from Bucktastic to get confirmation. Also ask for shipping document number so you can trace it on the shipper's website.

I usually look at what the person has sold to get that rating. A lot of those crooks will sell 25 paper clips (or something else trivial) to themselves (other aliases) to build up a good rating and then go hunting with a higher priced scam.
